Philoctetes (Phil for short), is a satyr who is a trainer of aspiring heroes who has often been disappointed by his trainees' shortcomings. He has long-since retired after failing to train a successful hero, but is convinced to train the callow young Hercules.
Philoctetes (better known as Phil) is the tritagonist of Disney's 1997 animated feature film, Hercules. He is a crotchety, old Satyr (half-man, half-goat) who served as a trainer of heroes in Ancient Greece—most notably Achilles and the powerful demigod, Hercules.
Phil is a smug ostrich villager in the Animal Crossing series. He first appeared in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and has appeared in all subsequent games except Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. He is the only smug ostrich in the series.
The second labor of Hercules was to kill the Lernean Hydra. From the murky waters of the swamps near a place called Lerna, the hydra would rise up and terrorize the countryside. A monstrous serpent with nine heads, the hydra attacked with poisonous venom.
Chiron is a character from Hercules: The Animated Series. A centaur, Chiron's a trainer of heroes like Philoctetes (to whom Chiron serves as a rival), though Chiron's students were, as a whole, much more successful than Phil's students (at least until Hercules came along).

Why is Chiron not in Hercules?
Chiron took no part in the fight but, was accedentally wounded by Hercules. As an immortal Chiron could not die but, lived in terrible pain. Chiron then chose to trade his life for the release of Prometheus.
Alcmene and her husband named the baby Hercules which means “glorious gift of Hera” in Greek. When Hera discovered her husband's secret affair had bred a child, she was overcome with jealousy, rage and hate. Determined to kill Zeus's illegitimate son, Hercules, Hera sent two snakes to strangle the baby in his sleep.
King Eurystheus had ordered him to kill the monstrous, seven-headed hydra, a water-snake that ravaged the countryside. As soon as the hero cut off one head, however, two more appeared in its place. With the help of a companion, Hercules finally killed the creature by cauterizing the necks with a burning torch.
The narrative depicts him as the antithesis of Zeus, who is presented almost as a modern-day God. It also centres around Hades' greed and jealousy, as he hires his minions 'Pain' and 'Panic' to kill Hercules in a bid to overthrow to 'good' gods of Olympus.
Phil is a recurring character based on Phil Rynda who originally appeared as a "Pajama Ninja" in "City of Thieves." He is a humanoid with a Phil-like face, although he usually doesn't make the actual PHIL FACE expression. He is seen in the following episodes: "City of Thieves."
Phil is one of the littluns. He shares the story about his nightmare where he fought the snake-thing but believes that it actually happened. Ralph insists that what happened is not true. Simon later admits that he often visits his hideaway at night, which is what may have caused Phil's nightmare.
When Hades plots against Hercules, Pegasus is lured and kidnapped by Pain and Panic, who have assumed the form of a female Pegasus and take him in the Animal Prison. He is rescued by Meg in the prison, who convinces Pegasus to go find Phil.
Pain and Panic are a pair of pint-sized, devil shaped demons (also called imps) in the Disney animated feature Hercules. Pain is a fat, red-shaded demon, and Panic is skinny and blue-green. They are the minions of the film's villain, Hades.
Anyway, at the tail end of the movie when Hercules saves the day and he, Meg, Phil and Pegasus are on Mt. Olympus, Phil tries to put his moves on Aphrodite, the goddess of love, beauty, sex, etc, she then kisses him.
As a result of their affair, Megara and Hercules had an astonishing eight children. But jealous Hera played another horrible trick on Hercules to prevent him from finding future happiness, cursing him with an uncontrollable madness that pushed him to kill them all.
The Hydra, a small freshwater invertebrate, is an advantageous model organism for regenerative biologists. Named after the serpent from Greek mythology that grew two new heads for each one cut off, this tiny, jellyfish-like creature holds within its genomic code the key to biological immortality.
Knowing that killing Hercules would bring a revolt, Eurystheus drugged Hercules and killed his family, letting three wolves rip them apart. He blamed Hercules for the murder and banished him.
While the Disney adaptation shows the gods Zeus and Hera as the parents of Hercules, Zeus was actually the only divine parent in the actual myth. His real mother was Alcmene, the wife of Amphitryon. Zeus had disguised himself as Amphitryon and tricked Alcmene into bearing his son, who would become the hero, Heracles.
The relationship between Zeus and Herakles is not like any other father-son relationship; they both acknowledge each other with the respect due but they do not closely communicate or function as a family.
The fire burned away Heracles' mortal flesh and he became immortal. He was taken up to Olympus to live with the other gods and he married his half-sister, Hebe. And Hera finally put aside her anger against him. It seems that Heracles could only find peace after his death.
Godhood. After his death in the pyre, Heracles ascended to Olympus as a god, and having finally reconciled with Hera, he got her daughter Hebe as his fourth and final wife. They had two sons together, Alexiares and Anicetus.
To ensure that Greek viewers were aware that Disney's “Hercules” was a loose interpretation of the sacred myth and not a historically accurate endeavor, the film was retitled “Beyond the Myth of Heracles,” returning the hero to his Greek name.
