In The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Aragorn is given a long, Elven dagger by Lord Celeborn in Lothlórien on the day the rest of the Fellowship received gifts from Celeborn and Galadriel. He uses it at the Skirmish at Amon Hen and in all following battles.
Galadriel then presents the Fellowship with additional gifts. To Aragorn she gives a sheath for his sword, Andúril, and a green gem in a silver brooch. Boromir, Merry, and Pippin each receive belts of silver or gold, while Legolas receives a longer, stouter bow.

In Peter Jackson's adaptation of The Fellowship of the Ring, the gifts differ somewhat: Sam receives only a length of Elven rope, Merry and Pippin receive Ñoldorin daggers, Aragorn receives only an Elven knife and not the Elfstone or a scabbard, and Boromir is given no gift.

Why did Celeborn give Aragorn a dagger?
When the Fellowship of the Ring traveled through Lothlórien in TA 3019, Celeborn gifted the dagger to Aragorn to aid him in the quest ahead. Aragorn used the dagger against the Uruk-hai scouts at the Battle of Amon Hen.
Before the Company of the Ring left Lothlórien, Galadriel presented each of them with gifts: "To Legolas she gave a bow such as the Galadhrim used. The bow was longer and stouter than the bows of Mirkwood, and it was strung with a string of elf-hair". The gift was accompanied by a quiver of arrows.
