She lived in fear of hurting anyone with her powers, and spent much of her formative years shut out from the world. Although it pained her greatly to do so, Elsa also found it necessary to distance herself from her family so there would be no risk of causing further harm.
Elsa fears she will not be accepted by her sister or her town. This feeling worsens as her parents pass away. Now with no one having knowledge of her powers the pressure increases for her to stay hidden.
