In the final fight, Kang says that he knows how the multiverse ends and if he does not reach the surface world, something terrible will happen. He vaguely alludes to the other Kang variants doing something bad.
Both He Who Remains and Kang the Conqueror have provided warnings of the destruction their variants can cause - a point which is highlighted at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, as Scott Lang is left with an impending sense of dread.
Alternatively, when this movie's Kang warned Scott that he's the only one who can stop what's coming, maybe he was talking not just about the Council of Kangs, but about the Beyonder, the most threatening variant of himself. It's also possible the main Quantumania Kang and Victor Timely could be one and the same.

Why is Kang afraid of Tony Stark?
Because of his understanding of time travel, the theory states, Kang is fearful that Iron Man could take him down. It is possible that He Who Remains set up the flow of time in a way that Tony Stark died while fighting Thanos, giving Kang the opportunity time to invade.

In Civil War, Scott got inside Iron Man's suit and began damaging it, which temporarily disabled Stark's abilities. This could be the key to defeating Kang, or at least slowing him down.
Janet argued that what he did was starting a war and all he wanted is to wipe away any universe that poses a threat to him, calling him a monster again. Kang, however, claimed that he was merely a conqueror, and he must burn down the old world to build a new one in its place.
Remember, Kang tells Scott that something is coming, and that his death is only the beginning. As the movie's credits scenes later reveal, there's an impossible number of Kang variants — all of whom make up the Council of Kangs — who seem more than ready to take over the multiverse.
There actually is a perfectly good reason for why he isn't as dangerous and powerful as he was set up to be in Loki. As stated above this Kang is an exile, stripped of his powers and resources. Quantum Realm exists outside time so he can't manipulate time, and without the multiverse engine his ship is useless.

This storyline saw Kang try and rewrite time in his own image but was tempted into battle with his old enemy Khonshu. It's left up to Moon Knight, Khonshu's avatar, to fix time and defeat Kang the Conqueror, which he does very effectively.
