In the theatrical film series, Georgie (instead of being left bleeding to death) is dragged down the sewers by the monster, after his arm is dismembered by the latter as he desperately tries to cling to his life calling Bill's name as no one hears.
Pennywise had targeted Georgie when the boy was too young to know any better or fight back. In the clown's most contemptible murders, Pennywise did not rely on visions or fears to lure Georgie in; instead, Pennywise exploited Georgie's trust and turned it into a fatal weakness.
While he comes close to presenting as the real Georgie, it was his fatal mistake of calling the boat “it” instead of “she” that caused Bill to acknowledge that it was Pennywise in disguise. Why do adults not see Pennywise?
They reach the conclusion that Pennywise has all of the adults under some sort of spell that prohibits them from seeing him. The adults of Derry are shown to be villainous in their own right as well. The adults of Derry are shown to be true villains of the story in the same way as Pennywise.
