Like most hobbits, Bilbo is fond of the comforts of home and hearth: He loves good, simple food in abundance, and he loves his pipe and well-furnished hobbit-hole.
At the beginning of the novel, Bilbo is, like most hobbits, comfortable and complacent. He loves food, drink, and security, and he relishes his snug little hole at Bag End, Underhill.
Adventurousness: Bilbo craves adventure. He is open and accepting of others who are different from him, which is not something that can be said of most other hobbits. He agrees to go on an adventure in which he has no end goal; he just goes for the sake of adventure.
Bilbo's motivation in the novel is desire because he was trying to get back his lost treasure that another character, the antagonist, named Smaug stole. That treasure is so important to him, and anyone else that had something important stolen from them, they would try to get it back.
In Bilbo's free time he likes too smoke his pipe, enjoy the comfort of his hobbit hole, eat his good and simple food, clean and tidy up his home, laugh and drink, and have parties.

Who did Bilbo love?
Bilbo loved Frodo like his own son since he did not have children of his own. Bilbo told his nephew stories with his adventures with Thorin Oakenshield, leading Frodo to pretend to be his uncle on his own.
The Fellowship of the Ring mentions shepherd's pie being served at Bilbo's birthday party, while Bilbo himself served pork pie, mince pie, cold chicken, eggs, cheese, salad, apple tarts and various cakes when he entertained the Dwarves at the beginning of The Hobbit.
He does not like to travel, preferring the safety of his hobbit-hole, but he has inherited a streak of adventurousness from his mother's side, the Tooks. His adventurous Took side and his comfort-loving Baggins side are in conflict throughout much of the story.
What does Bilbo Baggins hate? As a mostly domesticate creature, it's anything that disrupts his normally relaxed rural idyll. For example, a trickle of dwarves filling his home and making a mess of things.
Bilbo detests his cousins as much as they dislike him. He especially strongly disliked Lobelia because she tried to steal his own spoons that once belonged to his family. He especially is mad when they are auctioning off his things before he steals his house back.
Bilbo returns to the Shire with more than enough wealth to last him a lifetime. And he spends the rest of his days in peace, adopting his young cousin Frodo (whom he fondly refers to as his nephew). Bilbo is the first stay-at-home single dad in the history of literature!
Bilbo uses his wits and bravery to survive the different creatures he meets. Bilbo is a hero in that, even though he may not have what is usually characteristic for a hero, he tries his best and many times acts first and thinks later to save his friends.
Bilbo is originally chosen as the “lucky number,” so that Thorin and Company will not be an unlucky thirteen. During the course of the expedition, Gandalf remarks several times that Bilbo is extraordinarily lucky. Some of his luck seems to be the deserved reward for Bilbo's courage and determination.
At first, they thought he was a weak, silly bumbling fool. In the end, they admired him. In The Hobbit we see their initial assessment of Bilbo, and they don't think much of him.
Summary. Martin Freeman perfectly captured Bilbo Baggins' introverted nature and initial reluctance to embark on an adventure, making his journey in the film all the more compelling. Freeman's portrayal of Bilbo as a cozy, lighthearted Hobbit was heartwarming and made him feel like an organic extension of the Shire.
The Hobbit of There and Back Again, a novella by J.R.R. Tolkien, can be certainly considered as an epic, but Bilbo Baggins is certainly not the classic hero… Bilbo Baggins is, in fact, sometimes considered as an anti-hero, so many are the differences between his nature and the classic hero's.

According to the Unfinished Tales, when asked years later why he thought Bilbo never married, Gandalf's wise reply was that 'He wanted to remain unattached for some reason deep down which he could not understand himself - or would not acknowledge for it alarmed him.
Bilbo chose Frodo to be his heir when he adopted him, sure, but was there any reason besides that for him to never marry or to have his "own" branch of Baggins? I can't imagine 129 years of Bachelor life would be easy.
