Anna's parents rush her to the sacred realm, where discussions with the trolls reveal that Elsa was born with her powers/ depigmentation and deafness, rather than them being due to illness or accident. Grand Pabbie troll heals Anna but removes her memories of Elsa's magic.
Although Elsa's disability is encoded as a magical ice power, the language the film uses to talk about her condition maps on to the experiences of people with physical, mental, and intellectual disabilities in recognizable ways.
Perhaps the most obvious message in Frozen is that it's good to be courageous. Elsa fleeing her home to live on her own was bold; Anna following her was even more so. Having a feisty streak can be a very good thing!
In Frozen 1, her primary motive is of course avoiding hurting Anna and others. But when cat gets out of the proverbial bag, she quickly grasps the silver lining - I don't have to do that stupid 'conceal it' thing anymore! And doesn't sacrifice a thought for Anna or her kingdom anymore.
Her powers, though distressing to her, are beautiful, and show that she is a force she is to be reckoned with. She is diplomatic and tries to help her subjects with their problems. On the other hand, Elsa's fear of herself led to several other problems, like her anxiety and overprotectiveness.

In original drafts, Elsa was intended to be even darker than her literary counterpart, being a ruthless evil monarch that sought to rule the nearby kingdom. Her backstory changed often, but the most common one was that she was a mischievous rebel as a child, who was ostracized due to her behavior and powers.
Though it's reiterated throughout both Frozen movies more times than the audience can count, Elsa's story is all about embracing her own power instead of allowing it to make her afraid. Only once she does that is Elsa able to save her sister, end the seemingly endless winter, and help Northuldra and Arendelle both.

1. Tolerance And Acceptance. Perhaps the biggest life lesson in Frozen II is accepting those who are unlike you. We're soon introduced to an indigenous tribe called the Northuldra, which is actually based on the Sámi people of northern Europe.

The utter joy of Frozen is that it behaves like a classic fairytale but then bends all the rules. One of the key reasons why it's not just another animated Disney princess movie franchise is the strength of its writing, which carried consistently and powerfully through from the first movie to the sequel.
Canonically, Elsa of Arendelle, who sits upon the tiny northern kingdom's throne at the end of Frozen, is not queer. Canonically, she is not romantically interested in anybody. And lest you wonder if that description means Elsa is asexual or aromantic, neither of those qualities is canon either.
