In The Fellowship of the Ring, Cate Blanchett's Galadriel shocks the Hobbit when her etherealness disappears when she reaches out for the ring. Her voice deepens and distorts, her eyes blacken, and she throws up her arms as she shouts: "In place of a Dark Lord, you would have a queen!
"Even The Smallest Person Can Change The Course Of The Future." Galadriel recognizes that it is Frodo's duty to bear the Ring, and thus offers him a word of encouragement when he remarks that he knows "what [he] must do" but he's "afraid to do it."
Her intentions would have been pure because she sought to instill peace. Ultimately, however, Galadriel would have been corrupted by the power of the One Ring, and her beauty would become an object of worship.
She tells Gil-galad that, "Evil does not sleep; it waits." In The Rings of Power, Galadriel's conviction came across as arrogance and anger. In Lord of the Rings, Galadriel was not shown as a warrior, which makes the comparison with the character depicted in The Rings of Power jarring and difficult to reconcile.
When The Fellowship is taken to Galadriel, she and Boromir have a telepathic conversation which immediately causes Boromir to burst into tears. She senses his desires for the Ring but tells him not to give in because even now, there is hope.
In The Lord of the Rings, Galadriel chose to use her powers for good, even helping to form the Council of Elrond. Galadriel was not evil. Additionally, while he was in his weakened state, Galadriel could hold him off through the power of will alone. However, if Sauron had his One Ring and faced off in a battle against Galadriel, it's unlikely that there would be much she could do.
Morgoth, the first to reign terror upon Middle-earth, was more powerful than Sauron and commanded an army of dragons and Balrogs. While both Morgoth and Sauron were cunning, Morgoth's rule and terror lasted longer and his corruption spread further, making him more formidable in the Lord of the Rings universe.
For those that haven't read Tolkien's work, it's easy to see why many audiences suspect Gandalf and Galadriel are in love. After all, many of their interactions in The Hobbit trilogy practically scream romance. However, their relationship remains purely platonic in Tolkien's source material.
Fans know from the later Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit tales, that Galadriel eventually finds, falls in love with, and marries Celeborn, the elf who accompanies her down the stairs when the fellowship first arrives in Lothlorien.
The outcome is that Galadriel is able to penetrate Sauron's mind and issues a single command "Go back to the void from whence you came!" Unable to resist her any longer, Sauron screams and flees with the Nine.
This was Gandalf's Sindarin name, used by the Elves and later the citizens of Gondor. Inspired by his continuous travels and gray cloak, Mithrandir meant the Grey Pilgrim, rooting in the words “mith” (gray), “ran” (wander), and “rhandir” (pilgrim).
She calls him Mithrandir. It's his name in elvish. The root word is mith which has to do with silver. Mithril, for example, is that silver armor shirt that Bill has that is later given to Frodo.
In his notes, Tolkien remarks that Sauron saw Galadriel as his equal. Add that to the fact that she's untrusting of Sauron (yes, even when he's in his Annatar guise) and an unwavering, single-minded force, and it's more likely than not that Sauron feared Galadriel — or the potential she held to upend his plans.
Galadriel's possession of the ring would have made her a powerful evil force, as her desire to be adored would corrupt her. Despite her power, Galadriel couldn't match Sauron's ability to wield the One Ring, and it would have ultimately turned against her.
Through her great-grandmother, Idril, Arwen was a descendant of King Turgon of the Noldor. Through her mother, she was the granddaughter of the Elf-queen Galadriel of Lothlórien. Through both of her parents, Arwen was a direct descendant of the ancient Elven House of Finwë.
Though neither is someone you'd wish to annoy, Galadriel is generally considered more powerful than Elrond in Lord of the Rings. Not only is she older than her Rivendell counterpart, but Galadriel witnessed the light from Valinor's Two Trees, giving her a mystic quality.

Galadriel, one of the greatest Elves of Middle-earth, could resist the temptation of the One Ring because of her exceptional strength of will, wisdom, and awareness of the Ring's corrupting influence.
Before the Company of the Ring left Lothlórien, Galadriel presented each of them with gifts: "To Legolas she gave a bow such as the Galadhrim used. The bow was longer and stouter than the bows of Mirkwood, and it was strung with a string of elf-hair". The gift was accompanied by a quiver of arrows.
