Talking to Bella Sugar, she said Katniss's braids, for example, are actually a statement of rebellion. "Her braids always connect her to her family, her roots. She always maintains some version of the braids as to not lose who she is.
Braids have been used to symbolize wealth, marital status, age, and rank. They're also functional, keeping their wearers cool and unencumbered so they can work without getting hair in their eyes.
But on to more important matters. The Katniss braid. Her braid is actually a fairly simple Dutch Braid, the upside down French braid, continued down into a side braid. How Katniss Deals with Her PTSD. It's no surprise that Katniss becomes traumatized—after all, the Hunger Games are the perfect breeding ground for PTSD. Severe, life-threatening, interpersonal violence as well as witnessing atrocities and killing enemies in combat are particular risk factors for the disorder.
As they discuss District 12, Peeta spirals out of control, blaming Katniss for the district's destruction and accusing her of being a mutt created by the Capitol to use against everyone. Heartbroken, Katniss tells Haymitch and Plutarch that she can't stay in District 13 anymore.

Both tributes also have trouble controlling themselves and often react aggressively to situations that upset them.
Haymitch suffers from PTSD ever since he was in the games. Because of the way he won his games he was punished by The Capitol leaving Haymitch with no loved ones. Haymitch drinks to cope with this and the fact he has to mentor tributes year after year like pigs to the slaughter.
While there was a chance of Katniss getting medicine to help Peeta at this feast, he didn't want her risking her life against the other tributes just to save him. By tricking Peeta into consuming the sleep syrup (which knocked him out cold), Katniss was able to retrieve the medicine and save his life.
Peeta is of "medium height, stocky build" and has "ashy blond hair that falls in waves over his forehead." He has blue eyes. He is "broad-shouldered and strong." Part of Peeta's left leg was amputated following the 74th Hunger Games, forcing him to walk with the aid of a prosthetic leg for the rest of his life.
Katniss rarely sings because it reminds her of her father, but she now remembers a morbid song that her father taught her: “The Hanging Tree.” This moment in the story is significant in multiple ways.

Katniss's focus on survival and her family's safety prevented her from fully considering romance, but her feelings for Peeta and Gale diverged in the end. Katniss ultimately chose Peeta because he understood her trauma and she didn't want to lose him, proving her love for him.
It's only implied that they get it on via snuggling and other affectionate acts in close quarters — but if you have read the book, they really imply that they took their relationship to the next level.
