Joanne heads upstairs to her bedroom. The paramedics just left the premises with Phil's body, and Kyle, having been spurned by her earlier, went outside to smoke on the swing set. Having been left behind, Chucky follows her upstairs, gags her and slits her throat. Her corpse is later found by Kyle.

Trivia. In the Child's Play comic series, Karen is sent to a state hospital because the police did not believe her story of Chucky and Mike and Jack refused to back her up. After supposedly killing the doll once again, she is arrested and put on trial for murdering her psychiatrist, which in reality was Chucky's doing.
