In Mockingjay, Katniss brought him with her to District 13 for Prim, and she included him as the first item of the Mockingjay Deal. When she became Buttercup's owner after Prim's death, the two bonded over their loss, and Buttercup stayed by her side much like he had Prim.

Katniss purchased that goat after Rooba came by and said that she, in fact, didn't want the goat; then she winked at Katniss. Together, Katniss and Gale deliver the goat to Prim who was all too excited to care for it.

Cressida is a talented director with a keen eye for useful footage. Her desire to film Katniss in action is so great that she lies about Katniss's plan to kill Coriolanus Snow in the hopes that Katniss will act heroically on camera.
After Buttercup falls in love with her farmhand, Westley, he sails overseas to earn money for their marriage. He dies at the hands of the Dread Pirate Roberts, leaving Buttercup heartbroken. Though she doesn't believe she can love again, Buttercup agrees to marry Prince Humperdinck.
