Lyla returns to Dillon and attends the funeral of Matt's father. She reunites briefly with Tim, who admits that he is still in love with her, but realizes that asking her to stay will mean holding her back. They part ways amicably, and say their goodbyes as Lyla boards a bus back to Vanderbilt.
On-Again, Off-Again: Tim and Lyla's relationship went through multiple phases. Their first relationship started and ended in the episode "Wind Sprints," resulting from a one-night stand. However, they rekindled their romance in the third season, only to face another breakup in the episode "Tomorrow Blues".

Unsure of what his own future will be, he helps Becky come to terms with her life and is given a job by Buddy Garrity. Tim's final scene in the series is that of he and Billy building Tim's home on his property.
But the only wholly unforgivable show development took place during the series finale, which heavily implied that Tyra Collette (Adrianne Palicki) ended up with Tim Riggins (Taylor Kitsch), after she seems to agree that they can “merge” their dreams together.

However, the final episode showed Tim building a house with his brother and reconnecting with his old flame, Tyra. While Tim and Tyra didn't explicitly get back together in the Friday Night Lights ending, they both made it clear that they still cared for each other deeply.
In the series finale, Matt shows up for Christmas and proposes to Julie, and Julie accepts. They attempt to convince Eric and Tami that they're making the right choice which they succeed and have their support. Eight months later, Matt and Julie are living happily in Chicago.
I'm sitting here watching season 5 of FNL and Tim Riggins goes to prison for his brother after being caught by Dillon PD for running the chop shop (Riggins Rigs). He gets out and they totally make it seem like he was institutionalized after just 6 months in prison.
Riggins does eventually leave jail after a ten-month sentence “on good behavior” in the final season of Friday Night Lights, but there is a strikingly different person than encountered in previous years.

Eric and Tami are a married couple with two daughters, Julie and Gracie Belle. They have gone through their ups and downs and had their fair share of disagreements and arguments. Despite that, they manage to stay married through the entirety of the series.

Jason eventually forgives Tim and they become friends again. Prior to the semi-finals for the state championship, Jason, now focused for the first time in a long time, takes it upon himself to mentor his replacement, Matt Saracen.
Tyra realizes her feelings for Landry and sleeps with him, taking his virginity, and the two begin a romantic relationship. Landry's father, a police officer, suspicious of Tyra's involvement in Mike's murder and her relationship with his son, tells Tyra to end things with Landry. She does so, regretfully.
After military compensation for his father's death (along with life insurance) is enough for his grandma to live comfortably, Matt abruptly leaves for Chicago to finally attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago—without telling Julie. Matt eventually calls her to offer an apology, but she refuses to accept it.
Erin was a waitress on Jason Street's date off of an internet site. She helped Jason escape from the date when it went wrong. Jason and Erin ended up spending the night together and having sex. Although meant to be a one night stand, Erin later returns to Jason pregnant with his child.
This predicament quietly revealed that Tim was officially a senior, making him a 15- or 16-year-old sophomore at the beginning of the show. Since each season of Friday Night Lights began simultaneously with a new school year, Tim's age can be calculated to around 19 or 20 by the series' end.
With this, Whitmore rescinded their scolarship. With few options left, Smash decided to not attend college, working at the Alamo Freeze as a manager. He worked with Coach Taylor on his speed and skills, in hopes of regaining scholarships. Smash is able to walk-on to the Texas A&M Aggies Football Team.
In the finale's final montage, we see that Jess has a job at Dallas Walker, Julie and Matt are happy in Chicago, and Tinker, Billy, and Vince have both found a new home on the Panthers.
Matt develops feelings for Carlotta and breaks up with his girlfriend so that he can be with her. She rebuffed him at first but gives in and Matt loses his virginity to her.
First 'I love you: In Humble Pie. Tim shows up to Lyla's church to invite her to his house because he has something important he wants to say to her. She shows up at his house and Tim tells her that he loves her. She reacts by telling him that it's never going to happen and to move on.
