Six months after winning the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark have resumed their life in the coal mining town in District 12. As part of their victory, they now have a luxurious house in the so-called Victor's Village, where Katniss lives with her mother and sister.
Though still suffering nightmares from the entire ordeal, they comfort each other. Twenty years later, Katniss and Peeta are married and have two children. Under Paylor's administration, the Hunger Games are abolished with the arenas replaced by memorials.
What did Katniss get for winning the Hunger Games?
The last living tribute was declared the victor, showered in gifts, and lived the rest of their life in luxury and privilege in the Victors' Village. The winning district also received parcels of food from the Capitol for a year as reward for producing a victor.
Katniss is ready to take action against the Capitol and the Careers, and she wants to avenge Rue's death. Her promise to Rue gives her the drive to win, even more so than her promise to Prim. It is also Rue's death that makes Katniss want to shame the Capitol.
Rue's dad doesn't start a riot in District 11 after his daughter's death. Haymitch doesn't convince the Game Maker to change the solo victor rule. The film annexes the briefly mentioned characters Madge Undersee, Mayor Undersee, Greasy Sae, and Venia.
In the end, Katniss and Gale grew apart, as many childhood friends and young loves do. She needed something different in her life, and with Gale's link to Primrose's death, Katniss found a reason to cut ties. If Katniss ever wanted to find comfort again, she knew she had to return to Peeta for the long term.
In the end, Spruce and Sejanus are hanged at the Hanging Tree; Snow feels responsible for Sejanus' death and is wracked with grief. According to Jacobson, Sejanus' death is a "defining moment" that is "essential" to Snow's transformation into the evil President Snow fans know from the original trilogy.
Presently, those aspects of her life form her identity. She decides she doesn't ever want to have kids because even though she would be a victor, her children wouldn't be exempt from the reapings.
The houses are grand and luxurious compared to the rest of District 12; however, the village was wholly neglected for years due to a lack of victors in District 12, housing only three victors in the span of 75 Hunger Games: Katniss Everdeen and her family, Peeta Mellark, and Haymitch Abernathy.

Does Katniss get chosen for the Hunger Games again?
Since Katniss is the only female victor from District 12, she is immediately selected as Tribute. Instead of winning again, Katniss survives by escaping the arena with the help of her fellow Tributes.

Before the Capitol battle, Gale had explained to Katniss his series of bombs designed to feed off human compassion: a small bomb would go off, and then when medical aid rushed in, a second bomb would go off, killing those people as well. Incidentally, it's this exact type of bomb that took Prim's life.
Although she will never know for sure, Katniss does recognize that she cannot be with Gale. She will never be able to forgive him for his idea — the parachute bombs — that killed Prim.
It's only implied that they get it on via snuggling and other affectionate acts in close quarters — but if you have read the book, they really imply that they took their relationship to the next level.
