VIOLENCE: SEVERE A deer is hit by a car, and it is shown suffering in the woods crying with a bloody wound visible. A man is shown having his scalp cut into with a scalpel, and then we see his entire bloody scalp being disposed into garbage revealing his exposed and bloody skull.
If your kids are OK with bad language, this is OK for tweens, so 10+. If your kids are sensitive, I believe this sticks to a PG13. Don't miss it - a great murder-mystery.

Why is the movie better watch out Rated R?
Parents need to know that Better Watch Out is a Christmas-themed dark comedy/horror movie that's definitely not for younger viewers. One of the darkest and scariest scenes in Get Out is the one that takes place in the sunken place. This is where Rose's family brings their captives so that their bodies can be overtaken by the cult members. Chris is taken here during hypnosis twice but is luckily able to get out both times.
A good general age range for supervised knife use is somewhere between 5 and 7 years old. Buy a first time knife, explain how to properly use a knife, and only let them use the knife while you are instructing and watching carefully.
The movie focuses on mental health and trauma and it does that very well. Not for the easily rattled, lots of gore and jump-scares. I would not recommend for kids.

The R rating was definitely deserved for the language alone. Some of the violence is intense but not terrible. However there is constant use of strong language throughout in this film. Without it this could have been a PG-13.

When the flash goes off in Logan's face his demeanor changes. Physical symptoms manifest which include a nose bleed, fear in his eyes and lunging at Chris saying "Get out". Initially, this perception of this is interpreted as aggression, but later he learns that Logan was actually warning him.
Get Out and Us are both petrifying movies with a creepy atmosphere, palpable tension, and a fair share of jump scares. But, pound for pound, Us is arguably the scarier movie of the two.
