This helps avoid frostbite. Most of Kong's fights are with the Skar King, and the gauntlet allows Kong to smack away several ape minions in the Hollow Earth to warm up. He then gets up to Brazil where he wades into the Skar King. Just like Monarch envisioned, Kong takes to the gauntlet like a glove.
Seen only briefly in the trailer, Kong is wearing an Infinity Gauntlet-style weapon or armor on his right hand. While it is not something from the original Toho movies or lore, there are still several possibilities as to how this could benefit or power up Kong in this and future films.
He not only heals Kong's injuries with a special serum, but this mechanical arm also prevents further vulnerability when Kong eventually faces off with Shimo again. Kong is likely healed from the frostbite by the end of "Godzilla x Kong," but hopefully this isn't the last we see of the big guy's latest toy.
