Minho (books 1–3, 5) is an Asian Group A Glader and Keeper of the Runners. He later became Leader of the Gladers in the Scorch. Instead of being named after someone historically famous, he is named after James Dashner's niece's Korean husband. His subject number is A7, and his title is "the leader".
Since The Maze Runner's set in the future, James Dashner felt it'd be more realistic to include names of influential figures that don't yet exist. The person Minho's named after is the likes of a future scientist. Overall though, Dashner was inspired to name the character after his niece's husband who's called Minho.
Fun fact from the books: The Creators named all of the kids after scientists. So Thomas is named after Thomas Edison, Newt after Isaac Newton, Gally after Galileo, etc. (Minho is supposed to represent the future, or something.)

It is revealed in Fever Code that Newt and Sonya ( real name Lizzie ) were brother and sister. After they were captured by WCKD, Lizzie was renamed Sonya. She and Newt were then separated and sent to different Mazes, with their memories wiped out. Thus making them unable to recognize each other when they met again.
Newt's real name was never mentioned. James Dashner confirmed that it wasn't Sam. In the Fever Code it was mentioned that Newt still remembered his sister's real name (Lizzie) while he forgot his own real name. Also I wouldn't really want to know him by any other name except Newt.
Gally got through the same way the other Gladers got through. Gally used the small mechanical device that was found in the dead Griever body. We know this because when Gally appears at the end he is holding it.
