A few really sad things go down in Frozen 2.Frozen handles the deaths of Anna and Elsa's parents, Queen Iduna and King Agnarr, pretty gracefully (it helps that their shipwreck is during "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?"). In Frozen 2, however, we learn more details about their deaths, and it's pretty sad.
Watching the pain on the faces of Anna and Elsa as they relived their parents death — that was heartbreaking. To learn that they were going off to help Elsa understand her powers, and instead met their fate… well, it was emotional.
There's an air of playfulness and adventure surrounding both of them, but that's abruptly cut short when Elsa accidentally hurts Anna with her power one night. The near-fatal injury is one that Anna appears to quickly get over -- but Elsa is never the same afterward.
The film covers deep and heavy topics unknown to Disney princess films. The first Frozen broke the Disney formula by sharing “true love” doesn't need to be romantic. The second film addresses loss, grief, depression, and how to find hope and personal growth through life's uncertainties.

Although Elsa's disability is encoded as a magical ice power, the language the film uses to talk about her condition maps on to the experiences of people with physical, mental, and intellectual disabilities in recognizable ways.
Elsa's death in Frozen 2 is the result of her going "too far" into the Ahtohallan and being overwhelmed by the magic — in other words, she "drowned" in it. On February 8, 2023, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that Frozen 3 is in the works, along with Toy Story 5 and Zootopia 2. While news of a third Frozen film was a welcome one, we have yet to hear more details about the movie or see a trailer.
There hasn't been any indication that Elsa will have a girlfriend in Frozen III. That said, some fans have theorized that Honeymaren, a member of the Northuldra tribe, will be Elsa's girlfriend in the next Frozen film. Honeymaren was introduced in Frozen II as a resident of the Enchanted Forest.

Small incidents were made into huge deals, which was unnecessary.
In an overall sense, Frozen 2 has a better storyline than its predecessor. It deals with some heavier themes, has different consequences, it's just stronger overall. Frozen 2 goes deeper, and digs into Elsa and Anna's background in some new ways.

Elysium is the first daughter of Elsa and Jack Frost, protagonists in Frozen and Rise of the Guardians. She is also a Princess of Arendelle and Junior Guardian of Winter. She is the older sister to Elise and is the first heir to the Throne of Arendelle.
Both characters have two daughters (Agnarr is the father to Elsa and Anna, while Big Bob is the father to Olga and Helga).
