Riley the German shepherd is named after Ghost's real name (Simon Riley), and the honey badger assault rifle is named after an assault vehicle. The game's open finale would set up a sequel. However as of 2021, no sequel has been announced.
Both Ghost and König are breakout characters from the series, leading to their ship rising within the fandom. Due to the lack of interaction König has with Ghost in canon, GhostKönig is very heavy in fanon content. Fan works often have König joining Ghost's unit, whether officially or as an ally.
