Glinda, the Witch of the South tells Dorothy that her silver shoes have magical powers. All she has to do is click her heels together three times and command them to take her wherever she wants to go. So, with Toto in her arms, Dorothy clicks her heels together and wishes the shoes to take her home.
Glinda asked Dorothy, "Are you a good witch or a bad witch?" and Dorothy was confused about the aesthetic of witches, and then Glinda clarified "Only bad witches are ugly" ... đź‘€ Then WHY did you ask her if she was a good witch or a bad witch?

Why does Glinda change her name?
As the story continues, audiences learn that Galinda changed her name to Glinda in order to appease Prince Fiyero, whom she had a crush on. She also bullied Elphaba before they became friends, which only happened because the latter got her in the magic course.

When Dorothy asks why Glinda didn't tell her that before, Glinda replies that Dorothy wouldn't have believed her — she had to find out for herself. And like Dorothy, women today are on a heroine's journey.
In the end, Glinda reveals that Dorothy can return home by simply closing her eyes, clicking the heels of the slippers together three times and repeating the phrase, "There's no place like home." The slippers were designed by Gilbert Adrian, MGM's chief costume designer.
In the end, Dorothy learns that the secret to getting back to Kansas is to click the heels of the Ruby Slippers together three times and say, "There's no place like home; there's no place like home . . ." (129). The film's interest in home is certainly not accidental.
