Foreshadowing Katniss demonstrates her ability to hunt and forage in order to survive; Madge gives Katniss the mockingjay pin; Peeta excels at the camouflage station in training; Katniss saves the berries that killed Foxface.
In this form, foreshadowing serves two purposes. It indicates upcoming conflict and hooks readers as they realize that trouble is in store for the main character. A win-win. Book one of Suzanne Collins' trilogy introduces Katniss and the tribute selection process.
I just realized that the first two sentences in chapter 1 of THG foreshadowed Prim's death in Mockingjay :( Why would you doubt that? Authors plan their books for years, and usually the littlest things have immense impact on the story.
A very big example of Flashback in The Hunger Games, would be when Katniss and Peeta are both announced as the tributes of District 12. This flashback is early on in the book and gives the reader a background connection between Peeta and Katniss. Below is a small excerpt from this scene.

While Prim is caring for the wounded, a second set of bombs go off, killing her, along with everyone around her. This act of treachery and shameless targeting of the innocent is what finally turns President Snow's guards against him. They believe he is to blame, when in reality, Alma Coin was responsible.
Answer and Explanation: Prim is killed by a bomb at the very end of the battle. Alma Coin sees an opportunity to turn the Capitol troops against Snow, and she decides the resulting loss of life from her plan is a worthwhile price to pay.
Before the Capitol battle, Gale had explained to Katniss his series of bombs designed to feed off human compassion: a small bomb would go off, and then when medical aid rushed in, a second bomb would go off, killing those people as well. Incidentally, it's this exact type of bomb that took Prim's life.
Katniss spends the rest of the day crying on her bed. She believes that the Gamemakers will punish her for what she's done, that they'll make her an Avox and cut out her tongue. She imagines all of the possible scenarios, but is most fearful that the Capitol people will go after Prim and her mother.
Katniss didn't really have the time to consider romance when she was worried about survival. When Peeta and Gale both made their feelings clear, Katniss wasn't entirely receptive despite caring for them both. In the end, her feelings for Peeta and Gale diverged, with Peeta ultimately winning her heart.
Katniss is rendered deaf in one ear after she blows up the Careers' supplies, and she doesn't regain any hearing on her left side until afterwards when the Capitol gives her a hearing aid.
People who suffer from PTSD can also experience trouble sleeping, which both Katniss and Peeta deal with, exhibit self-destructive or reckless behavior or can be aggressive and irritable. Both tributes also have trouble controlling themselves and often react aggressively to situations that upset them.
2. Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Wig Was Stolen! The natural blonde had to wear a brunette wig in the final two installments of the franchise due to hair damage after dying her tresses for the first two films. It turned out that one of her castmates was all about Katniss' wig, too.
While there was a chance of Katniss getting medicine to help Peeta at this feast, he didn't want her risking her life against the other tributes just to save him. By tricking Peeta into consuming the sleep syrup (which knocked him out cold), Katniss was able to retrieve the medicine and save his life.
Haymitch suffers from PTSD ever since he was in the games. Because of the way he won his games he was punished by The Capitol leaving Haymitch with no loved ones. Haymitch drinks to cope with this and the fact he has to mentor tributes year after year like pigs to the slaughter.

A prime example of dialogue foreshadowing occurs in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, when Romeo says, “My life were better ended by their hate, than death prorogued, wanting of thy love.” This line foreshadows Romeo's eventual fate: commiting suicide over the loss of Juliet.
