The announcement of the upcoming sixth entry in the Insidious series betrays the most recent major update from Blumhouse about the franchise's future. In addition to the confirmation of its production, Insidious 6 has already been given a release date, which is set for August 29th, 2025.
Insidious: The Red Door is the fifth film in the series and serves as a direct sequel to Insidious: Chapter 2. The film is Patrick Wilson's directorial debut, while Scott Teems serves as screenwriter, based on an original story by Whannell and Teems.

Is Insidious 5 bad?
Insidious: The Red Door is a very underwhelming finale to the once promising franchise. They start off with making Josh and Dalton forget the events of Insidious 1 & 2 which makes their relationship very awkward.
Elise Returns As A Ghost In Insidious: The Red Door's Ending
Given when the movie takes place, Elise can only appear at the end of Insidious: The Red Door as a ghost. She's already been dead over a decade after Josh strangled her when he was possessed by the Black Bride at the end of Insidious.
It is then revealed that Josh is being possessed by a demon that stalked him as a child. Therefore, Insidious 2 sees the Lamberts trying to get Josh back. Although the Lamberts ultimately succeed at saving Josh, there is damage that he does that cannot be undone.

The Big Picture. Insidious is not based on a true story, so you don't have to worry about real-life hauntings like in The Conjuring series. The inspiration for Insidious came from Wan and Whannell's desire to make a horror film about astral projection.
The demon chases them to the red door and Josh stays behind to keep it shut so Dalton will be safe. Dalton returns to his body and paints over his red door painting with black paint, which in turns seals the real door and The Further. Josh meets his father's spirit, who guides him back to the living world.
While the first two films follow a connected story, the third and fourth Insidious films serve as prequels to the Lamberts' story. In theory, you could watch the films in chronological order, finishing up your watchlist with the Lamberts and their trials.
The clouds on the right are darker than the clouds on the left which could represent good vs evil. In the title 'Insidious' the 'si' is in the colour red because it means 'is in' which gives the audience more of an idea of what the film is about.
As she packs up for the night, Josh hands her his childhood photos, but as she takes them, she gives Josh a strange and startled look, and whips out her camera and snaps a photo of Josh. Furious, Josh goes in a rage and violently strangles Elise to death.
Elise is killed at the end of the first movie by the Bride in Black, who has successfully possessed Josh. She reappears in the second movie as a spirit in the Further, where she helps Josh get back to his physical body and stop Parker from killing his family.
However, it shouldn't be surprising that Insidious is doing well as the franchise is known for being a huge box office draw. When the original Insidious scared its way onto the scene in 2011 it made $100.1 million worldwide which opened The Further to more frighteningly good sequels.
The Lipstick-Face Demon is also referred to as the Red-Faced Demon, the Man With Fire on His Face, Sixtass, or The Visitor in the Insidious films. While the origins of these names remain largely unknown, it is evidently called the Lipstick-Face Demon because of the red paint smeared on his face.
In the end, Elise meets a girl named Allison who is in a "coma" and realizes something rising behind her. Elise is shocked and says "Oh my god!" gasping, hinting a sequel. The thing that was behind Allison is believed to be the red face demon as it made the same crackling sound as it did in Insidious 1.
Dalton, we learn, has grown up hating his father, because he felt abandoned by him. Josh, divorced from Renai (Rose Byrne), has been living in a fog, his wiped-out memories just out of reach.
His spirit was trapped in the Further at the end of the first movie, and his body taken over by the Old Woman, who had been trying to take over his body years before.
