In 1897, Barrie met and befriended the Llewelyn Davies family and he soon became a favourite with the five boys: George, Jack, Peter, Michael and Nico. It was the Llewelyn Davies boys who provided the inspiration for Peter Pan.

The new Peter Pan & Wendy confirms the connection between Captain Hook and Peter goes further back than Peter, causing the pirate to lose his hand. Captain Hook was the first lost boy in Neverland, and he and Peter were best friends.
She leaves her nursery for Neverland not because Peter tempts her with a kiss, but because he mentions his love for her stories. Wendy goes with him and so leaves a place where she has no authority—the nursery—to fashion a new, albeit temporary, life somewhere she has worth: as a mother in Neverland.

Peter Pan loves both Wendy and Jane, but only in the way that a son loves a mother. First, Peter has Wendy come with him to Neverland to be mother to his Lost Boys. When she tells Peter she has developed romantic feelings for him, he tells her that he loves her as if she is his mother.

He would rather return to Captain Hook, who is his family now. Hook is still Peter's oldest friend, even if the two have been at odds for years.
So, why exactly do Peter Pan and Captain Hook hate each other so much? Well, in most cases the story is usually portrayed as being pretty simple. Peter cuts off the pirate captain's hand in a duel (the hand is typically then consumed by a crocodile) and Hook…well… let's just say he isn't thrilled with Peter afterward!
