Plot. Anne visits her father Anthony in his flat after he has driven away the latest of several caregivers. He has dementia and constantly forgets important life events and where things are around his flat, including his watch.
To that end, The Father's meaning is deep because of the way it explores dementia as a labyrinthian trip through the mind of someone who has it. At the end of actor Anthony Hopkins' The Father, the tree still has its leaves, and perhaps that's the most optimistic statement on Anthony's condition of all.
Anthony wakes up in his room and walks out of the flat, only to find himself in a hospital hallway. He remembers his daughter Lucy (Imogen Poots) died in a car accident at the hospital. He sees her bloody body in the hospital room then wakes up in a completely different bedroom, now in a nursing home.

The film, already impressive for its cinematography, artistic direction and evocation of genuine emotions, also achieved neurological accuracy by virtue of Hopkins' acting.
Meanwhile, Jang enters the lab and points a gun at Lucy's head. He shoots, but by that point Lucy has reached 100% of her brain capacity and promptly disappears, moving into the spacetime continuum. Only her clothes and the black supercomputer are left behind.
At the end of the movie, Johansson, a hard-partying college student, is able to utilize 100% of her brain and she transforms into an immortal being. But before she does, she agrees to give neurologist, Morgan Freeman, a file with everything she's learned about the brain on it.
Lucy arrives with a child and fresh blood around her mouth, she attempts to seduce Holmwood but is stopped by Van Helsing. They return later and drive a stake through Lucy's heart thereby killing Lucy in the novel a second time.
The first feature film from French director Florian Zeller is an excellent and poignant tale, all too real for those who have experienced this with a loved one. Zeller adapted his own play (winning a Tony Award for Frank Langella) with his co-writer, Oscar winner Christopher Hampton (DANGEROUS LIASONS, 1988).
In general, the title Father (capitalized) signifies God's role as the life-giver, the authority, and powerful protector, often viewed as immense, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent with infinite power and charity that goes beyond human understanding.
The Father's ending scene features more twists and turns than might be expected from a dementia-oriented Anthony Hopkins vehicle, leaving audiences with a few questions by its conclusion.

In Lucy (2014), as Lucy nears 100% of brain capacity, she turns her own skin black. This is because, as she became smarter and smarter, she realised that the essence of humanity was-gaining the n-word pass.
She swipes the drugs from Jii and starts to leave, but orders Del Rio to go with her. He thinks he is of no use to her, but she walks over to him and kisses him, asking him to come "as a reminder."
The movie states that the only purpose of life is passing on knowledge. However, Lucy's intelligence doesn't help her become a better human being. Thus, at one point, she mentions to the professor that she's losing her humanity; such as: her fear, love, feelings, and compassion.
In the end Lucy accepts her life and the new people in it, even though she has no memory of them and no memory of their shared relationships over time.
Limitless (I) (2011) A mysterious pill that enables the user to access 100% of his brain's abilities transforms a struggling writer into a financial wizard, but it also puts him in a new world with many dangers.
As anyone who has observed these symptoms can attest to, they are debilitating, and can be associated with significant impacts on the family. Dementia, the condition that is portrayed in the film, is most commonly caused by Alzheimer's disease (AD), a progressive disease that disrupts brain cell function.
We do not fully understand what causes mental illness, or why it can be passed on in family members. Mental illness may be passed on for different reasons, not just genes. Having a family member with a mental illness doesn't mean that you or a family member are also going to become unwell.
