The Missing movie ending explained the discovery that June's presumably dead father, James (Tim Griffin), is behind the scheme to kidnap Grace in a bid to get his daughter back, which involved using Kevin to con Grace Allen into going on vacation.
He quickly kidnaps June and takes her to their old home where Grace is being held. Mother and daughter are reunited, but they are soon threatened by James, who shoots Grace. James tried to capture June to leave, but a revived Grace stabs him in the neck with a shard of glass. James tries to call the hospital but dies.
Despite its lifelike premise and innovative use of modern technologies in its storytelling, Missing is not based on a true story. The film and its plot are completely fictional works that were conceptualized and written by Sev Ohanian and Aneesh Chaganty.
Allen, who had a history of heart disease, died from a heart attack in Hollywood on August 27, 1964, at age 62 (later found to be 69 according to census records). Her remains were interred in a crypt at the Freedom Mausoleum in the Sanctuary of Heritage at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, California.
Their case is fictionalized in the Netflix crime drama “Unfiction” (which also covered the last movie's case on David Kim and his daughter Margot), which June thinks is lame. It also turns out that June and Grace have kept in touch with Javi, and he has successfully reunited with his son.

Missing has a very happy ending in which Sarah and June make it back alive after going through hell in the form of James coming back from the past to harm them somehow. June's attitude is much more mature, and her connection with her mother seems to be more solid than ever.
Missing is no horror film, but it is a very well crafted thriller. The performances are spectacular. The grounded reality of the film makes it feel like you are watching these terrifying events play out in real time.
