In Mulan (1998), the title character, the Chinese army, and Shan Yu use jian swords. In Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Shu Lien uses a jian sword while teaching Princess Jen. In the 2000 film Dragonheart: A New Beginning, Master Kwan briefly wielded a jian sword.
