To distract the Capitol from the rescue mission, Finnick and Katniss perform a live interview to be broadcast across Panem. During this interview, Finnick reveals his backstory after the 65th Hunger Games, where he was forced into sex trafficking by Snow.
Finnick learned many secrets, including that Snow, in his rise to power, poisoned his adversaries but to divert suspicion often drank from the same poisoned cup followed by an antidote that only Snow used. Segments of the propo of Katniss and Finnick are aired.
During an interview Katniss and Finnick shot to distract the Capitol from the rescue team, Finnick reveals President Snow kills his enemies and allies who can become threats to him. He also reveals that Snow forced Finnick into sex trafficking, selling his body to wealthy Capitol citizens for high prices.
What did Finnick mean when he said Snow sold his body?
After winning the games, Snow forced Finnick into prostitution and sold his body to Capitol residents to gain their trust. Finnick only agreed to take part because Snow threatened to torture his loved ones. Even though he bedded several women throughout his time as a victor, Finnick's love for Annie remained true.
Before he rescued Peeta, Katniss saw Finnick as a threat and someone she will eventually have to kill. However, she admits she will never be able to kill him because he saved Peeta. She won't be able to look past the debt she owes him for saving Peeta's life.

What was the point of killing Finnick?
Finnick's death gave even more weight to Katniss's mission to kill Snow, since he was directly responsible for the death of one of her friends - making it all the more poignant when she chooses to kill President Coin (Julianne Moore) instead of getting to personally kill Snow herself.
Chia Mags kisses Finnick on the mouth to briefly let him know that this is the last time she will see him. It's her way of saying "Goodbye" but in a more affectionate way.
At an unknown point in time years before the 74th Hunger Games, she was personally fired by Snow, the stated reason being due to her being too surgically enhanced.
As Katniss gets to know Finnick during the Quarter Quell, she sees he is in fact loyal, dutiful, and caring. For example, despite Mags being a burden on his chances of survival, Finnick does everything he can to keep the eighty-year-old alive because, as we learn, she was his mentor and he genuinely cares about her.
Why does Finnick tell katniss to pretend they didn t see it?
Finnick's actions at the end of this chapter, when he tells Katniss to pretend they never saw the new interview with Peeta, indicate that he must not trust those in charge of Command, just as Katniss is hesitant to trust them.
The following year after Lucy Gray Baird's victory, another female tribute emerged as the Hunger Games winner. Mags Flanagan became the first victor from District 4, living off of nuts and her survival skills by creating fishhooks. She was also the first victor to move to Victor's Village before serving as a mentor.
Also, Mags was Finnick's mentor, and most likely helped mentor Annie. They would have all lived together in the District 4 Victors' Village. Much like how Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch became family, it is probable Mags, Annie, and Finnick did as well, so Mags may have felt a maternal kinship towards the younger two.
Johanna won the 71st Hunger Games by pretending to be weak and that made all the other tributes leave her for last. Then she unleashed her full potential and violently killed all the remaining tributes. Johanna, being the only remaining District 7 female victor, was Reaped for the 75th Hunger Games.
District 12 has the most Hunger Games victors, with five winners, including Katniss, Peeta, Haymitch, and Lucy Gray. Finnick Odair is the youngest winner in history, winning at just 14 years old.
During the 70th Hunger Games, Annie witnessed her fellow District 4 male tribute's beheading, which drove her to insanity. She has certain problems which included her closing her eyes and covering her ears, laughing when it was unnecessary, and staring into the distance at strange times.
Woody Harrelson portrayed the character in the movies based on originally created for Suzanne Collins' YA book trilogy. As the lone District 12 mentor for Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, it was revealed that Haymitch won the annual Hunger Games event when he was just 16 years old.
As a Career tribute, Finnick won the 65th Hunger Games at the age of 14, where he was mentored by the previous District 4 victor, Mags. During the 74th Hunger Games, he served as mentor alongside Mags for District 4, as revealed in Mockingjay when he became the expert on Peeta's memories of his two times in the arena.
It was also insinuated that the lead heroine believed that Mags previously suffered from a stroke, which would have cleared up her limited communication. Some fans had theorized that PTSD could have been a factor when it came to Mags' lack of talking, or possibly just her old age.
While the Hunger Games film never talked about it, the Catching Fire novel explained why she could only communicate through hand gestures. Katniss briefly mentioned that a previous stroke could have caused Mags' garbled speech. However, post-traumatic stress disorder could have also caused her speech incapacity.
Katniss made the choice to build her future with Peeta. If she didn't love him, she wouldn't have made that choice. Katniss made her whole world about getting the people she cared about to the next day, her choice to survive with Peeta proves her love for him.
Katniss's focus on survival and her family's safety prevented her from fully considering romance, but her feelings for Peeta and Gale diverged in the end. Katniss ultimately chose Peeta because he understood her trauma and she didn't want to lose him, proving her love for him.
Their relationship was all friends. They trusted each other, but that doesn't mean they had romantic feelings for each other. Plus, Cinna's too old for Katniss.
