The scars are part of his character's backstory and not, as some might think (thanks to expert FX makeup), really part of Marsden's body. In Season 2, Episode 5, “The Price You Pay,” Ben tells Jen he was born with heart problems, which he underwent seven surgeries to address.
To transform into a warmer version of itself, Dead to Me had to become a tragedy—one that contrasts the sudden, macabre ends met by cheating Ted and cruel Steve with poor Judy's slow, painful death from cancer.
“So much of that final episode is about Jen coming to a form of acceptance of what is happening in her life and what is happening with Judy, and I'm trying to bring the audience to a place of acceptance as well.
Ultimately, Judy convinces Jen to be honest to Ben about the baby and everything that happens; she dies with the positivity and optimism she's always had. The series ends with Jen, Ben and her kids in the backyard and her telling him she needs to tell him something. Then, the screen goes black.
Judy's motive for turning Steve in seemed in part to be a way to keep him from turning her in for Ted's hit-and-run death. Steve had previously told her that since he was the only witness, he controlled the narrative.
They later reconcile, but Jen lies to Judy about the circumstances of Steve's death: she claims she shot him in self-defense, but flashbacks show she bludgeoned him to death with Henry's wooden bird as he was leaving. At the end of the episode, the doorbell rings to reveal what appears to be Steve, alive and well.
The Greek Syndicate, on the other hand, had plenty of reason to kill Glenn Moranis in Dead To Me. Moranis was investigating Steve Wood and his shady business, and had been investigating him since before his murder.
Judy begins dating Michelle (Natalie Morales), the ex of Detective Ana Perez (Diana-Maria Riva) who has been investigating the death of Jen's husband, Ted.
After mentioning déjà vu, and seeing the cat (that Jen brought back from Mexico to honor Judy) trying to get into Judy's old room, Jen finds enough courage to tell Ben the truth about Steve's death.
So yes, Judy hit Ted, which technically means she is the one who killed him. But in a way, Steve is the one who signed Ted's death warrant. The show confirms this via Jen, when she learns the truth, shoots Steve on the spot, and immediately calls Judy.
Although she initially tells Judy that the incident was self-defense, Jen eventually comes clean and reveals that she hit Steve out of rage. By this point, Judy has realized how toxic Steve was and doesn't hold a grudge against Jen. Judy still misses him, though. Hold on.

Taking pity on Jen, Perez lets her go until any further evidence is found.
Then, when you are at the secret spot, you call Panam instead of any of the other options. That will initiate the Nomad ending. People say that the best ending is the Nomad ending with the Judy romance, as that is all wrapped up nice and neat and Judy gets her wish of getting out of Night City.
She asks, "You won't forget me, will you?" to the audience, who applaud before she ends her performance by saying, "Promise you won't". The film's end card says she died six months later, in summer 1969, at the age of 47.
Nick (Brandon Scott) is an off-duty police officer who Judy briefly dated during season one before breaking up with him as he began to realize Steve and Judy had to do with the death of Jen's husband.
