It's true that Deckard's way of eating noodle is no good. The Japanese way of eating noodles is to put one end of the noodle in your mouth and then suck up the rest of the noodle in one go. But Deckard is trying to put the whole noodle in his mouth at once, like eating spaghetti.
Deckard orders "four." Proprietor retorts 二つ十分ですよ! (Two's enough!). Real WTF moment if you know Japanese. But I finally realized: Deckard's ordering booze!
In a 2023 interview, Ford stated that he "always knew" that Deckard was a replicant, but wanted to "push back against it", adding that a replicant (or at least, Deckard) would want to believe that they are human. Ridley Scott stated in several interviews that he considers Deckard to be a replicant.
He engaged in a fight with Luv, ultimately drowning her while also being severely wounded. K then used the situation to fake Deckard's death, saying he drowned. Afterwards, he took Deckard to Stelline Laboratories, urging him to meet his daughter.
Orange. Image via Warner Bros. Once K gets to Vegas, the entire city is bathed in a mysterious orange fog that continues until he leaves this setting. Using this color as a backdrop creates a sense of warning and caution.
The second film further develops Rachael's origin, and gives significantly more details about her radical design. It revealed that she was an experimental model of replicant with a high percentage of human organs, including human reproductive organs, and that Rachael conceived a child with Deckard.
Because of this memory, K became convinced that he was Rachael and Deckard's child, but was eventually informed by Freysa that he was not and that the child was female. With this revelation, K soon determined that Stelline was the child. K took Deckard to Stelline's lab as she interacted with a snowfall hologram.
However, he later learns that, even if the memory is real, it was not his own but Dr Ana Stelline's. Through her work, Dr Stelline shared her memory with K, and this allowed him to understand what it was like to walk in her shoes, but most importantly, to believe himself a free, loved replicant.
Deckard's age is never revealed in any of the dialogue. In the source novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, he was assumed to be middle-aged (late 30's to early 40's) but Philip K.
Deckard then tests himself, confirming that he is human but has a sense of empathy for certain androids. Deckard is now able to buy his wife Iran an authentic Nubian goat with his commission.
Roy realizes that Deckard is in the exact same position he was in, with Deckard wanting to be saved, thus extending his life. Although Tyrell couldn't extend Roy's life, Roy knows that he can extend Deckard's life.
Deckard, resigned to his fate and in captivity inside a spinner, was rescued when K intercepted Luv's spinner escort and took them all out of the sky near the Sepulveda Sea Wall. Unknown to Deckard, K had orders to kill Deckard in order to protect the resistance movement and the child.
He finds a scale in the bathtub that he thinks comes from a fish, and he finds several pictures in a drawer. One of the pictures shows a man in a room with a mirror on the wall in an adjoining room. Deckard goes home, then uses his computer to zoom in and enhance an image in the mirror on the photo.
Doctor Ana Stelline (Carla Juri) designs memories for the Nexus-9 Replicants but is forced to live in a bubble because of her condition. She's in no condition to lead any sort of revolution or lead her “people.” In fact, she's a key point in the machinery that allows them to be produced and enslaved.
While "2049" failed to find an audience in the public, it was a hit with critics gaining a slew of five-star reviews and an overall Rotten Tomatoes critic score of 88%.
The horse, with the inscription "6.10. 21", establishes the connection between the dead female replicant who gave birth and died on 6.10. 21, and K himself, implying that the memories were not in fact "implanted" but are rather genuine after all.
Ana Stelline (Carla Juri), who is Deckard and Rachael's daughter but has no idea of this and now works as the world's best memory fabricator. We don't know if she planted that memory in only K's brain or in the brains of hundreds of replicants, hoping one of them would follow this message in a bottle. Maybe others did.
During the final fight with K, after subduing him, she smugly kissed him and retorted "I am the best one!", as if trying to prove her superiority over not just K, but all other replicants, further hinting at her deep-seated insecurities that she kept well-hidden.
Does Blade Runner 2049 confirm Deckard is not a replicant?
That seems pretty definitive, but even so – the film remains open to interpretation, and Denis Villeneuve's 2017 sequel “Blade Runner 2049” does nothing to confirm or deny Deckard's replicant nature.
Deckard's eyes glow briefly in one scene, which was used in the film to subtly suggest his replicant identity. However, Ford denies this was an intentional effect and he may have caught some of the light intended to fall on Sean Young's eyes.
The Earth in “Blade Runner” has faced a different sort of climate change. If it's always raining in southern California, then there is probably a drought somewhere else. The causes of that environmental shift are not made clear, but one look at these fictional California skies tells you that pollution must be a factor.
The corporation also brought digital technology back to the planet's citizens with the introduction of the Wallace Datalink Network. Replicant prohibition was lifted in 2036 with the introduction of the Nexus-9. Despite the pressure to leave Earth, many humans continued to live on the overcrowded planet as of 2049.
