Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Snow Queen", the film depicts a princess who sets off on a journey alongside an iceman, his reindeer, and a snowman to find her estranged sister, whose icy powers have inadvertently trapped their kingdom in eternal winter.
FROZEN is an original story, loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen's “The Snow Queen.” Published in 1845, “The Snow Queen” begins when a magic mirror created by trolls shatters, causing pieces of it to lodge in the heart and eye of a boy named Kai.
At 108 minutes, Frozen is also quite a long movie for younger children. These are the main messages from Frozen: People can make bad choices if they're scared or stressed. Love means putting someone else's needs before your own.
Initially, the film began with a prophecy: "A ruler with a frozen heart will bring destruction to the kingdom of Arendelle." Anna is a pure-hearted heroine, much like her character in the final version, but Elsa is evil incarnate.
Perhaps the most obvious message in Frozen is that it's good to be courageous. Elsa fleeing her home to live on her own was bold; Anna following her was even more so. Having a feisty streak can be a very good thing!

Although Elsa's disability is encoded as a magical ice power, the language the film uses to talk about her condition maps on to the experiences of people with physical, mental, and intellectual disabilities in recognizable ways.
Elsa from Frozen was originally intended to be an evil queen with an army of snow monsters. That's according to the animated film's producer Peter Del Vecho, who says they completely re-wrote the ending. "When we started off, Anna and Elsa were not sisters," he told EW. "They weren't even royal.
The only explanation is that Prince Hans, the first time we see him, is a good guy, but somewhere in the course of the movie, the Trolls magically manipulated him into becoming a bad guy.
Elsa explains that she and Anna now serve as the bridge between the people and the magical spirits, where the bridge has two ends: Anna on the people's side and Elsa on the magical spirits' side. Elsa abdicates the throne of Arendelle to Anna and becomes the protector of the Enchanted Forest.
So Hans was this lovely guy during the movie and suddenly he is just evil. Supposedly his plan was to charm the kingdom into letting him be the ruler, but all his nice scenes were basically him faking everything. But how does that make sense.
In "Let It Go," Elsa's powers are described using metaphors that convey her feelings of being out of control. For example, at the beginning of the song, Elsa sings "The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside." Here, the wind is used as a metaphor for the turmoil Elsa feels within herself.
Elsa's powers were based on the concept of anxiety: The filmmakers wanted Elsa's powers to represent something deeper than just magical abilities. They chose to base her powers on the concept of anxiety, which is something that many people can relate to.
The Church of Arendelle is a Lutheran church. Since Arendelle is an absolute monarchy, the king or queen has all of the power, and the church is not in charge of the kingdom. Though the church does not hold political power, it still is responsible for religious events.
The ice from which the palace is constructed is capable of taking on different colors, such as purple, blue, red and yellow, based on Elsa's emotional state (blue when she is happy or neutral, yellow or amber when she is angry, and red when she is frightened).
Due to the bad blood between their people, Iduna kept both her heritage and her rescue of Agnarr in the forest a secret for many years, though she finally confessed everything to him shortly before their deaths.
While they're in there, Anna and Elsa also discover another twist: They're half-Northuldran. Their mother, it turns out, was a tribe member who saved their father during the battle, escaped with him out of the forest, and later married him.
Under this stress, Elsa accidentally injures Anna with her powers. Their parents, the King and Queen of Arendelle, take Anna to the magical trolls who heal her but also alter her memories so that she has no knowledge of Elsa's powers. This fright led the King and Queen to isolate both Elsa and Anna from the kingdom.
"In my little head, Anna and Elsa's brother is Tarzan," he told MTV. "That's my fun little world." Director Chris Buck confirms that, in his mind, the sisters in ''Frozen'' (left) are the older sisters of Tarzan (right).
The implication, and it's only ever just that, is that Elsa and Anna's mother is herself somehow attuned to the magical forces such that Elsa was given the gift of superpowers. (Why Anna never received such powers is equally vaguely defined: just as Elsa and Anna's father had no powers, so too would she be power-free.
Both characters have two daughters (Agnarr is the father to Elsa and Anna, while Big Bob is the father to Olga and Helga). In Frozen II, Agnarr is voiced by Alfred Molina, while Iduna is voiced by Evan Rachel Wood. The two had previously voiced the Fairy King and his daughter, Marianne, respectively, in Strange Magic.
Created from Elsa's magical powers, Olaf is by far the friendliest snowman in Arendelle. He is innocent, outgoing and loves all things summer. Olaf may be a bit naive, but his sincerity and good-natured temperament make him a true friend to Anna and Elsa.
