Tarzan films from the 1930s on often featured Tarzan's chimpanzee companion Cheeta, his consort Jane (not usually given a last name), and an adopted son, usually known only as "Boy."
Cheeta (sometimes billed as Cheetah, Cheta, and Chita) is a chimpanzee character that appeared in numerous Hollywood Tarzan films of the 1930s–1960s, as well as the 1966–1968 television series, as the ape sidekick of the title character, Tarzan.
Jad-bal-ja, the Golden Lion is a fictional character in Edgar Rice Burroughs's Tarzan novels, and in adaptations of the saga to other media, particularly comics.
Kala is a fictional ape character in Edgar Rice Burroughs's original Tarzan novel, Tarzan of the Apes, and in movies and other media based on it. She is the ape mother of Tarzan who raises him.
The 2016 live-action film The Legend of Tarzan featured the Mangani as a distinct species of ape, describing them as being more aggressive and dangerous than gorillas. The Mangani themselves were computer-generated images using motion capture technology.

“God bless you Cheetah. Now you and Tarzan are together again.” The chimpanzee died Saturday after suffering kidney failure the week before, the sanctuary foundation said on the site. He was roughly 80 years old, Debbie Cobb, the sanctuary's outreach director, told CNN affiliate WFLA.
Terk, referring to herself Terk is a major character in Disney's 1999 animated feature film, Tarzan. She is a rowdy, tomboyish, and fun-loving gorilla and the best friend of Tarzan. She is also Kerchak and Kala's niece, making Tarzan her human adoptive cousin.
Kerchak is a large and powerful mountain gorilla who would do anything to protect his family. Due to this, Kerchak often appears to be mistrusting, cold, judgmental, stubborn, narrow-minded and aggressive towards outsiders. Tarzan noted that he feels threatened by anyone that was different from him.
In the Walt Disney produced animated movie Tarzan (1999), Tantor is the personal name of this original elephant companion of Tarzan's rather than a term designating all elephants. In this version, Tantor is a sweet-natured yet highly phobic elephant afraid of many things, such as germs and frightening sounds.
It is likely that Terk was more based on Cheeta, a chimpanzee from many of the Tarzan movies of the 1930s–1960s, as both serve as comic relief sidekicks to Tarzan.
Mangani – A type of great ape. They are intelligent, with their own spoken language (which Tarzan knows), are Tarzan's friends and family, and will come to his aid if summoned. Named Mangani include Terkoz (voiced by Lou Scheimer) and Tor.
In The Return of Tarzan, Tarzan and Jane marry. In later books, he lives with her for a time in England. They have one son, Jack, who takes the ape name Korak (the Killer).

Thanks to Tarzan's cheerfulness and helpfulness, Zugor begins to warm to him as the boy continues to try to figure out what he is. Tarzan's best friends Terk (voiced by Brenda Grate) and Tantor (voiced by Harrison Fahn) come looking for him, but Tarzan does not want to return home with them.
Named Tarzan by his new gorilla family, the man child learns the way and wisdom of the jungle, growing up to challenge the rule of the mighty ape leader, Kerchak.

Fortunately, the toddler is picked up by one of the killer apes, Kala, who immediately starts breast feeding him, since her own little baby ape was tragically and somewhat conveniently killed, making her long for a replacement baby. This allows Tarzan to grow up with apes, and develop super strength.
Tarzan begins his language acquisition after he meets Jane, the one who teaches him language and humans' habit. Jane realized that he was with a wild man. Tarzan and Jane introduced themselves each other. Tarzan imitated every word that Jane spoke to him.
5. Tarzan eats raw meat. I can't really remember depictions of meals in the Weissmuller movies, but I assume Tarzan and Jane cooked their food over a campfire. The original Tarzan likes his meat freshly hacked and dripping with blood or, even better, tenderized by having been buried for a few days.
His brown hair is styled in long dreadlocks. He wears almost no clothes; the only piece of clothing he wears is a tattered brown loincloth around his waist, and he is also barefoot.
As anyone who has read the first book in the series, “Tarzan of the Apes”, can tell you, he taught himself to shave so he might not become an ape figuratively.
