In 1962, No.25 was restored for excursion service and served in that capacity until passenger service was once again terminated in 1975. It has since been used in the films Bound for Glory and Stand By Me. It is presently in Oregon, providing excursion service on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad.
I did it as kind of an act. There was the scene where they're running on the trestle and the train is coming. The truth is the boys and the train were never on the trestle at the same time. I used such a long lens, and so the boys had jumped off the train track before the train even entered the trestle.
However the majority of railroad scenes were filmed here in Cottage Grove along the railroad track that went up the Row River – now that railroad track is the Row River Trail, which makes seeing these film locations easy and fun.
