Until one night, their dog bites Owen in the middle of the night that gives him a virus where he needs to drink blood in order to survive. The mom is willing to sacrifice anything in her life to make Owen live happy again by giving him as much blood as possible.
Jess, a separated mother and nurse, moves with her daughter and young son Owen back into her old farmhouse. Shortly after settling in, Owen is bitten by the dog, resulting in a mysterious infection from the bite.
Owen fully transforms into a vampire, and Jess drowns him in the thick mud around the tree. Owen's death is made to look like an accident, and Jess loses custody of Tyler.
The family dog, Pippin, bounds into the lake and gets stuck in the mud. The kids manage to free the dog, but their troubles are only beginning. Owen, biting his neck. Jess manages to kill the dog and rushes her son to the hospital.

What happens to Red Dog at the end?
During the celebrations that follow, Red Dog gets up and walks out of the bar, unnoticed by everyone. Upon realizing that the sick dog has left, everyone in the town begins looking for him, eventually finding him lying dead in front of John's grave.
Although Red Dog was well liked, it is believed that he was deliberately poisoned in 1979 with strychnine. Red Dog was buried, by veterinarian Rick Fenny, in a secret unmarked grave around Roebourne, Western Australia.
He remained in Gondor for the rest of his life. Pippin died some time after the year FO 63 and was laid to rest with Merry in Gondor. After the great King Elessar (Aragorn) died in FO 120, Merry and Pippin were entombed next to him.

Rating: 4 out of 5. There is nothing I love more than a fresh genre surprise, and Brad Anderson's Blood perfectly fits the bill. Though I was not a fan of the director's incredibly well-received movie Session 9, Blood is a different beast entirely.
The prince falls in love with Catherine, a widow with a young son, and (much to the Leading Player's chagrin), Pippin struggles to decide whether he should settle down and pursue a peaceful life or continue to make magic with the dazzling troupe of performers.

Pippin is much closer to Hamlet than to any other figure. The Leading Player is his Horatio (albeit one with more than a touch of Puck!) The underlying theme of Pippin is not the choice between good and evil/life and death. It is between reality and non-‐reality, the true and the magical ("We've got Magic to do").
