The Alien (also referred to as a xenomorph) is a Alien race of endoparasitoid extraterrestrial species that is the primary antagonist of the Alien film series and originating from Xenomorph Prime.
Some theories initially supported by director Ridley Scott propose that the Space Jockeys engineered the Xenomorphs as a bio-weapon or experiment gone awry.
The crew of the USCSS Prometheus believed that the abandoned planet they explored was an outpost for weapons engineering and development, lending credence to the theory that the Engineers created the Xenomorphs (or perhaps more specifically, the Black Liquid that led to the Trilobite) for war and genocidal purposes.

How did Xenomorphs get created?
