When Ripley opened the airlock to expel the Alien queen into space, Bishop saved himself and Newt from following her out the airlock. Bishop had finally earned Ripley's trust and was placed into hypersleep along with Ripley, Newt and Hicks.
After most of the Colonial Marines are wiped out by the Aliens on LV-426, Bishop is a medic and technician who ensures that the company's dropship receives Ripley, Newt and Hicks. When he boards the Sulaco, he is impaled and bisected by the stowaway Alien Queen.
Semantics here but Bishop technically survives his encounter with the queen in ALIENS and gets re-activated in ALIEN 3 before asking Ripley to permanently deactivate him. The human counterpart survives, too.

After having sacrificed herself to kill the Alien queen gestating inside her in Alien 3, Ripley has been cloned using blood samples so that the military may extract the queen embryo. As a result of the cloning process Ripley has been affected by the Alien queen's DNA.

Michael Bishop was an executive officer of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation in the late 22nd century. He notably designed the eponymous Bishop series of androids. He also bore a striking resemblance to Charles Bishop Weyland, co-founder of Weyland Industries.
