Later, during a genial crew meal, Kane begins retching and then convulsing in agonizing pain. As his shipmates reach out to help him, blood suddenly spurts from his chest, and a wormlike creature with razor-sharp teeth — born from the egg laid in Kane's stomach by the facehugger — emerges from his twitching corpse.
Dan O'Bannon said that "once the creature was rigged up, they stuffed the chest cavity full of organs from the butcher's. Then they ran a couple of big hoses to pump the stage blood." While the cast's reactions are genuine, the final result had to be made by blending two different takes.

Was the knife scene in aliens real?

The Alien is portrayed by both Woodruff Jr. in a suit and a rod puppet filmed against bluescreen and optically composited into the live-action footage, with the rods removed by rotoscoping. A mechanical alien head was also used for close-ups.
No normal human has survived being infected by a Xenomorph. In Alien 3, Ripley threw herself into the foundry's furnace at the same moment that a Xenomorph queen embryo was bursting through her chest and her return in Resurrection was as a clone. The destruction caused by the chestburster on the way out is fatal.
The process begins with cramp-like pains in the victim's chest but rapidly progresses to debilitating agony and uncontrollable convulsions. The loose wiring and exposed tubing match the monster, creating a greater sense of dread, since it could be literally anywhere. Both design choices resulted in spaces that felt very real and distinct from other space films, creating a strong visual identity that is unique to Alien.

The rumor that the cast, except for Sir John Hurt, did not know what would happen during the chestburster scene is partially true. Everyone had read the script, which explicitly stated that something would be coming out of Kane's chest, but they did not know specific details.
The species of aliens known as Xenomorphs live distinct stages of life. The Xenomorph life cycle is thus: an egg hatches a small alien, often referred to as a "facehugger" (known scientifically as an ovipositor). This critter attaches itself to the face of a living being and implants an embryo inside the torso.
Queen Aliens are significantly larger and stronger than the normal adults, being approximately 4.5 metres (15 ft) tall. Their body structure also differs, having two pairs of arms, one large and one small.
The unsuspecting host first experiences a shortness of breath, followed by great pain in the chest area, causing shock. The host would continue to experience extreme pain until the Chestburster rips through the chest cavity, causing massive hemorrhaging and invariably killing the host in the process.
It's theorised that the Facehugger doesn't actually implant a Chestburster embryo but adds an unknown substance into the host's throat. The substance then causes the host's cells to restructure which then causes the host to create the Chestburster using its own biological material.
Newt dies offscreen in both cuts of Alien 3, with Charles Dances' Clemens informing Ripley that Newt drowned in her cryotube during the opening pod crash. The initial plan was that the facehugger who causes havoc on the Sulaco attacked Newt, and she was implanted with the Alien Queen embryo.
Some therefore claim that there had to be several eggs and facehuggers on the Sulaco, as one facehugger impregnated Ripley while in hypersleep, a second one cut itself while trying to crack open Newt's cryotube (thus starting the fire on the ship), and a third journeyed with the crew in the EEV (escape pod) and later ...
