Hercules is said to be the demigod son of Zeus, who completed the legendary Twelve Labors after being betrayed by Hera, who drove him insane and caused him to murder his wife and children during a visit to King Eurystheus.
Just as he is about to die, his immortality is restored. He returns Meg's soul to her body, and together they go to Olympus, where he reunites with his parents. Resolution: Hercules decides to return to Earth as a mortal to be with Meg.
In Hercules, upon visiting the Fates, Hades learns that he could succeed at universal conquest by releasing the Titans in eighteen years, but if Hercules should fight, Hades will fail. He sends his minions, Pain and Panic, to kidnap baby Hercules and give him a potion that would render him mortal, and kill him.
Hera is an antagonistic figure in Hercules's life, and it is her, not Hades, the person who sends two snakes to kill baby Hercules (Morford et al. 556).
