Haymitch Abernathy He is not known to have ever married, or even been romantic with another woman after her. However, in the films he occasionally engaged in light flirtation with Effie Trinket, and the two kissed in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2.
In order to punish Haymitch for what was perceived as an act of rebellion, President Snow (who is the protagonist of the prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) ordered Haymitch's family and girlfriend to be killed.
Whilst she and Haymitch shared some flirtatious interactions earlier in the books, there's no actual hint of romance between the pair in Mockingjay's book. Haymitch and Effie are not romantically involved. Haymitch and Effie share a kiss as they say goodbye.

Who does Katniss truly love?
Katniss ultimately chose Peeta because he understood her trauma and she didn't want to lose him, proving her love for him. The debate between Peeta and Gale continues among fans.
Katniss was stuck between her feelings for Gale and Peeta in The Hunger Games, but the books proved who she was always meant to end up with. Like many literary love triangles, Katniss, Peeta, and Gale's situation sparked a fevered debate.
He never married and doesn't have any children, and Katniss wonders how hard it must be for Haymitch to watch District 12's tributes die year after year. She grows fond of Haymitch throughout the novel, and he grows fond of her as well, doing his best to train her, coach her, and watch over her when she returns.
Reaping. Then, after the first male tribute from 12 is called, Haymitch is reaped. He is said to be strong, young, with dark and curly hair. Katniss even admitted that he looked attractive, especially with the grey Seam eyes he had, making him look dangerous.

While in the woods, Haymitch runs into three career tributes. He's outmanned but not outgunned as he quickly kills two of them with his knife. The final tribute manages to disarm him, and as they go in for the kill, fellow District 12 tribute, Maysilee Donner, kills the career tribute with a dart.
Chaff, of course, comes right out and kisses Katniss, though his reason is more to have fun with Katniss's image than to turn it to his advantage. Finnick's and Johanna's tactics, however, are clearly deliberate attempts to manipulate Katniss, and Katniss immediately distrusts both as a result.

After his victory, President Snow has Haymitch's family murdered in retaliation for his manipulating the force field. Haymitch becomes an alcoholic, spending the next few decades drinking himself to numb the pain. He hates the Hunger Games, the Capitol, and everything they stand for.
As District 12's only surviving winner of the Hunger Games, Haymitch acts as Katniss's and Peeta's coach throughout the Games. Though he is drunk most, in fact nearly all, of the time, he proves a cunning advisor to the young tributes.
The future of his relationship with Katniss is unclear at the end of the novel as it appears she will never forgive him for leaving Peeta behind or withholding information from them.
Primrose Everdeen is Katniss' younger sister. An intelligent and gentle 12 year old, Prim is the most precious thing in Katniss' life, and the 16 year old does everything she can to look after her in the extremely poor District 12.
Probably due to being skilled with knives, Haymitch keeps one with himself when he sleeps. However, considering that he doesn't sleep often and instead prefers to stay awake and drink, it is only logical that he keeps a knife with himself when he does drift off.
At 16, Haymitch was reaped in the Second Quarter Quell, which was the special name for the 50th Hunger Games. The fellow District 12 tribute was a girl named Maysilee Donner, with whom he formed an alliance for a brief time in the arena, fighting off the Hunger Games' deadly Mutts and career tributes.
Gale does not marry anyone in The Hunger Games. He and Katniss talk about running away together and starting a new life in the wilderness, but they never officially marry.
She just lost all love and respect for gale, with Him ultimately inventing what ultimately killed her sister, the entire reason she was even on the game in the first place was to save her sisters life, and he let revenge and hate ruin everything for kannis.
And while Gale certainly didn't intend for Prim to die (sending her onto the battlefield at all was Coin's choice alone, and a deliberate move to put her in harm's way, regardless of who pulled the trigger), the loss of innocent life was a core element of Gale's strategy when designing the bombs.
