Daisy's friend, a woman with whom Nick becomes romantically involved during the course of the novel. A competitive golfer, Jordan represents one of the “new women” of the 1920s—cynical, boyish, and self-centered.
After a brief relationship with a girl from Jersey City, Nick follows the advice of Daisy and Tom and begins seeing Jordan Baker. Nick says that Jordan is fundamentally a dishonest person; he even knows that she cheated in her first golf tournament.
While Nick Carraway is somewhat infatuated with Jordan Baker, he doesn't exactly love her. He recounts that he is happy to go out to social events with her because people knew her as a professional golfer. He says he has a "tender curiosity" toward her more than love.
He lives across the bay from his affluent second cousin, once removed, Daisy Buchanan and her husband Tom Buchanan, formerly Nick's classmate at Yale. They introduce him to their cynical friend Jordan Baker, a masculine golf champion and heiress.

This would be the end of chapter two, before he meets, and falls instantly in love with, Gatsby. He is in Manhattan with Tom, who wanted Nick to meet “his girl,” Myrtle.
The ellipsis that is placed at the end of the elevator scene has almost as much impact on the story as if Fitzgerald had explicitly states that Nick and Mr. McKee slept together, if one were to read it that way. The ellipsis in itself is an innuendo for having a sexual encounter.
This inner conflict is symbolized throughout the book by Nick's romantic affair with Jordan Baker. He is attracted to her vivacity and her sophistication just as he is repelled by her dishonesty and her lack of consideration for other people.
Sick of the East and its empty values, Nick decides to move back to the Midwest. He breaks off his relationship with Jordan, who suddenly claims that she has become engaged to another man.
Here we get a sense of what draws Jordan and Nick together—he's attracted to her carefree, entitled attitude while she sees his cautiousness as a plus. After all, if it really does take two to make an accident, as long as she's with a careful person, Jordan can do whatever she wants!
Nick is floored by the insanity of this level of planning. Jordan thinks maybe Gatsby expected Daisy to come to one of his parties, and when that didn't happen, he made up this new plan. Nick and Jordan make out.
Julia Cleary (Lizzy Caplan), Nick's girlfriend in a story arc in season 1. At first she appears to be the perfect girl to Nick, but later it is revealed she has anger management issues. She is a lawyer who has a contrasting personality to the bubbly Jess. Shelby (Kali Hawk), Winston's love interest.
Without giving too much of the story away—in part because it describes almost any budding author, with that slight touch of autism that never quite connects with the world except through imagination and writing—Carraway eventually winds up back in New York.
Daisy, who is in her early twenties, has a three-year-old daughter, named Pammy. The child is looked after by a nanny, and during the one scene where we see mother and daughter together Daisy's response to Pammy seems shallow and inadequate.
In a queer reading of Gatsby, Nick doesn't just love Gatsby, he's in love with him. In some readings, the tragedy is that Gatsby doesn't love him back. In others, Gatsby is as repressed as Nick, each chasing an unavailable woman to avoid admitting what he truly desires.
In the summer of 1922, Nick moves to West Egg, New York, to sell bonds. He rents a house next door to Gatsby. Nick starts dating Jordan Baker and meets Tom's mistress.
A distraught George traveled to Gatsby's mansion in West Egg and shot Gatsby dead before turning the weapon on himself. Soon after Gatsby's murder, Daisy, Tom, and their daughter departed East Egg, leaving no forwarding address.

She is unhappy in her marriage, she feels like her daughter needs to be a fool to be happy, and she ultimately feels bored and discontent with her life.
The novel is set in the fictional town of West Egg on Long Island in the early 1920s. Indeed, Fitzgerald was inspired to write the book by the grand parties he attended on prosperous Long Island, where he got a front-row view of the elite, moneyed class of the 1920s, a culture he longed to join but never could.
