After the Witch disappears, Dorothy asks Glinda to help her to find a way home. Glinda suggests that she speak to Oz, the wizard who lives in Emerald City. She explains to Dorothy that she must walk a long way to get there and to find her way by following the road of yellow brick ("So Far So Good").
In order to return to Kansas, the Good Witch of the North consults a magical blackboard which recommends: "Let Dorothy go to the City of Emeralds" and ask the Wizard of Oz to help her. The Good Witch of the North also kisses Dorothy on the forehead, stating that no one will harm a person who has been kissed by her.
Why didn t the Good Witch help Dorothy go back home?
The Witch of the North didn't tell her because she didn't know. Glinda was the Witch of the South and she knew what the shoes could do, but she couldn't just go there - Dorothy had to go and see her to find out that the shoes could take her home. Who were the small people who helped Dorothy?
The Munchkins are described as being the same height as Dorothy and they wear only shades of blue clothing, as blue is the Munchkins' favorite color. Blue is also the predominating color that officially represents the eastern quadrant in the Land of Oz.
The Wizard sends Dorothy and her friends to the Winkie Country to kill the Wicked Witch of the West. The Tin Woodman's axe proves useful in this journey, both for chopping wood to create a bridge or raft as needed, and for chopping the heads off animals that threaten the party.
She introduces herself as Glinda and explains that the true Wicked Witch is her half-sister, Evanora. Years ago, she poisoned their father, the King, so she could rule Oz uncontested. Before he died, the King predicted that a powerful Wizard would come and take his place.

There are actually two good witches in Baum's original version: Glinda is the witch of the South, not the North, in his telling, and she doesn't appear until the second-to-last chapter. The book states that she is not only “kind to everyone,” but also “the most powerful of all the Witches.”
Dorothy, a Kansas farm girl, lives with her Auntie Em and Uncle Henry. When Almira Gulch, brings a sheriff's order to take Dorothy's little dog Toto away to have the dog destroyed, because Toto bit Miss Gulch's leg, Auntie Em and Uncle Henry refuse to go against the law, and they give the dog to Miss Gulch.
In the end, Dorothy learns that the secret to getting back to Kansas is to click the heels of the Ruby Slippers together three times and say, "There's no place like home; there's no place like home . . ." (129). The film's interest in home is certainly not accidental.

Glinda the Good, Lady Chuffrey, née Glinda Arduenna of the Uplands (formerly referred to as Galinda), is a major character in the 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West and its sequels Son of a Witch, and Out of Oz by author Gregory Maguire.
In The Oz Kids, Glinda becomes a mother and has a daughter Andrea. Voiced by Erika Schickel. Her daughter Andrea has a dress similar to Princess Ozma's.
