Fall revolves around a grieving mountain climber named Becky whose husband Dan fell to his death. A year later, her friend Hunter proposes climbing to the top of a decommissioned 2,000-foot TV tower to scatter his ashes, and Becky agrees in the hope that it will help her to move on.
Becky was curious why Hunter didn't catch the bag when it fell, and also, the audience wonders why Hunter didn't warn Becky about the truck. It turns out Becky was hallucinating Hunter all along. Hunter's death had already occurred, in the fall onto the platform.
Best friends Becky and Hunter are climbing a mountain with Becky's husband Dan, who loses his footing and falls to his death. A year later, Becky has given up climbing and becomes an alcoholic recluse and contemplates suicide.
During the climb, Becky has to leap from her side over to Dan, who catches her. As Dan continues his way up, he is startled by a bat flying out of its hole, and he loses his footing. Dan hangs on and tries to climb back up, but his harness comes loose and he falls to his death.
The 1-4-3 Tattoo In Fall Reveals That Dan Had Cheated On Becky With Hunter. During their first night on the tower, after Hunter's car is stolen, Becky notices a tattoo on Hunter's ankle that ends up revealing a four-month affair that Hunter had with Dan before Becky married him.
Hunter fell in her attempt to get back up to Becky, and she's been a figment of Becky's imagination ever since. It explains why Hunter suddenly knew about wrestling (despite the fact she's never watched it), and why she appeared more supportive of Becky after that incident.
Luckily, Fall is entirely a piece of fiction that isn't based a specific true story. Even from Fall's first trailer it was clear that the movie was an exaggerated tale.
The 2000 ft B67 TV Tower that Becky and Hunter climb is a real television tower. According to the director, the film was based on the KXTV/KOVR radio tower that is also known as the Sacramento Joint Venture Tower. It is a guyed communication tower in Walnut Grove, California.

Fall is all about making the suffering look real, the make-up and effects solid as the girls gradually look dehydrated, exhausted and exposed to the element. It adds that suspense and experience effect, really selling to me just how miserable something like this would be if it happened.
Quite harrowing, intensely scary at times even for adults, gory, some drinking and drugs, implications of suicidal thoughts. Way too much intense peril and adult themes/situations for young teens. My youngest was disturbed by it and is sleeping in my bed tonight.

While the story isn't true, the tower at the centre of it — the decommissioned B67 TV Tower — is based on a real-life tower: the KXTV Tower in California, one of the tallest structures in the world.
The next day, in penance, Hunter climbs to retrieve the backpack but nearly falls to her death. She injures her hand in the process, but successfully ties the rope to the bag, and Becky is forced to use all her remaining strength to pull both Hunter and the backpack up.
