Though the movie does follow many aspects of the original novel, the story diverts a good deal, especially revolving around the Brides of Dracula. Unlike the original novel, Count Dracula's original wife is named Elisabeta.
In the Marvel Universe, the three Brides in the original novel are identified as Nikolett Bodo, Bettina Kaposvar and Emese Kisfaludi. They have been Brides since at least 1691 as revealed in the story Suffer Not a Witch in the Dracula Lives series.
In the radio drama Dracula by The Mercury Theatre on the Air, which was broadcast in 1938, Mina was played by Agnes Moorehead. In the drama Dracula refers to her as "my bride" and "my love" at one point. Mina is the one; who stakes him in the end.

Why did Dracula bite Mina?
After Dracula learns of this plot against him, he takes revenge by visiting — and biting — Mina at least three times. Dracula also feeds Mina his blood, dooming her to become a vampire should she die, afterwards killing Renfield and destroying all of the copies of their epistolary, except for one which Dr.
After Dracula's box is finally loaded onto a wagon by Romani men, the hunters converge and attack it. After routing the Romani, Harker decapitates Dracula as Quincey stabs him in the heart. Dracula crumbles to dust, freeing Mina from her vampiric curse. Quincey is mortally wounded in the fight against the Romani.
In the end, after Dracula's death, Mina is restored to her previous state. The mark on her forehead symbolizes Mina's transformation. Shortly after being bitten by Dracula, Dr. Van Helsing places a communion wafer on her forehead, burning her and leaving a scar.
Not only does Mina utilize her sexual prowess to seduce and stun Van Helsing as he races to destroy Dracula's castle, but her love for Dracula literally gives her the ability to summon storms to block the sun.
In the series, Alucard is the son of Dracula, the antagonist of the Castlevania series. Due to his human mother, Lisa, Alucard is a dhampir, a half-human, half-vampire. His mother's death and admonition not to hate humanity caused him to take up arms against his father.
But if there's anything the series always makes clear, it's that all the bloodshed is caused by a very human emotion in Dracula's love for his human wife, Lisa.

In 1475, Lisa was arrested by the Bishop of Targoviste on suspicion of being a witch, the medical implements and supplies in her home being mistaken for "witchcraft". Her home was burned to the ground as she was dragged to the square in Targoviste, where the bishop had her burned alive at stake.
Born to the 15th century warlord Vlad Dracula and a noblewoman named Zofia, as an infant Lilith is banished along with her mother from her father's domain and forced to live as a peasant.
The Brides of Dracula are the undead female servants to Count Dracula. They're usually shown as a trio of three women which the novel depicted as two brunette women and a blonde who apparently is the leader of the trio.
Dracula forces Min to drink his blood in an effort to connect him to her and to overpower her with the intentions of killing her. Why it matters: This scene demonstrates the lack of identity Dracula has as well as the control he fights for.
Evidently, Van Helsing has deduced the reason why Dracula came to England: Dracula's own country is so "barren of people" that he came to England, a place where life is rich and flourishing; he is now returning to his native soil to escape discovery.
None of the romantic scenes between Mina and Dracula appeared in the book either, such as when they meet outside the movie house and when they drink absinthe together. Mina was never intended to be Dracula's love interest; she was madly in love with Jonathan Harker.
However the fictional character, created by author Bram Stoker, was in fact based on a real historical figure called Vlad the Impaler. Vlad the Impaler, also known as Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia, was a 15th-century warlord, in what today is Romania, in south-eastern Europe.
It's never confirmed what happened, but it's strongly implied that Martha either died in the fire started by the humans or that someone had snuck in and attacked her. Contrary to the legend, Drac and Mavis survived, but, sadly, Martha perished. It is Drac's sad history that persuaded him to build Hotel Transylvania.
In 1476, while marching to yet another battle with the Ottomans, Vlad and a small vanguard of soldiers were ambushed, and Vlad was killed and beheaded — by most reports, his head was delivered to Mehmed II in Constantinople as a trophy to be displayed above the city's gates.
Which is exactly what Van Helsing and his Vampire Killers do to Lucy in the film. Lucas was spot on. The rules were right there on the screen. In order for Mina to give Dracula peace, she has to cut off his head with the Bowie knife she had plunged through his heart.
In Bram Stoker's original novel, Mina is not only not in love with Dracula, she is actively repelled by him. Not in the original work, no. But filmmakers are generally uninterested in making faithful depictions of a classic; they like to probe for (and if need be, invent) new angles or interpretations.
Why did Dracula choose Lucy? Largely Lucy is chosen for her beauty and purity which directly counters the ideas of vampirisms. Choosing her serves as a symbol of corruption of good, and her repressed sexual desires further fuel Dracula to make her his first English victim.
