In the extended cut, the film opens with Henry, revealed to be a designer of the escape rooms. When his wife Sonya threatens to divorce him and take their daughter Claire with her, she ends up trapped in the sauna when it turns into an escape room. However, she does not solve it in time to escape and is killed.
She actually meets Claire (Orphan's Isabelle Fuhrman) who's revealed to be the actual puzzle maker. Her father kept her locked in a room and presented her ideas as his own. Fortunately for Zoey and Ben, this means that Claire built something into the quicksand room that meant Ben survived.
Instead of placing the focus on the plane twist, the alternate version of Escape Room 2 heavily features Claire (Orphan's Isabelle Fuhrman), the true mastermind behind the games who killed her parents after they tried to take credit for her creations.
Unfortunately, the Amanda seen in Escape Room 2 is a mentally broken shell of her former self, having been forced by the evil corporation Minos into constructing the game that Zoey, Ben, and the new players find themselves inside.

What happens to Brianna in escape room 2?
Zoey makes it in, but Brianna and Rachel do not make it in time before the acid rain gets them and burns them to death. Zoey is taken into what looks like a child's bedroom. She finds a diary among other clues from earlier rooms, which belongs to Sonya.
As the group rest, Nathan reveals his escape room group were all priests while Brianna's were all influencers. Rachel's group consisted of people who cannot feel physical pain. The survivors enter the next room, a bank room with a slowly closing fault and a deadly laser security system.
This is an early clue to a twist in the third act, when it's revealed that Amanda's death by falling was an illusion and she has been in Minos' grip ever since. After falling down the long shaft from the pool room with the collapsing floor, Amanda landed on a mattress instead of the hard ground.
Amanda tells her to not believe anyone is dead until she sees it with her own eyes, and learns than Ben didn't die in the quicksand but was taken to use as leverage to force Zoey to design games, too.
A little later, the Gamemaster tries to strange Ben with a horse whip. Zoey comes out of nowhere and shoots the Gamemaster. Later, Ben and Zoey fight against him but eventually, the Gamemaster dies. Both Zoey and Ben get away and survive.
Zoey and Ben actually survive the ordeal, but it doesn't end there. Zoey returns to the site with the police, but there's nothing there. There are no remains of the rooms. She only stares at the wall where a graffiti drawing reads "No Way Out," and she associates the phrase with one of the escape rooms.
Holland Roden plays punk-rock Rachel Ellis, one of the champions that Zoey and Ben meets in the subway. She reveals almost the end of the movie that she was born with microdeletion in one of her genes which affects sensation and causing her not to feel physical pain.
The other participants were unable to save Danny as there was a current flowing through the water, pushing him away from the hole in the ice, and they were all too cold to survive any rescue attempt. Danny ultimately drowned while the others escaped to the next room without him.
The group enter a hospital ward containing beds identical to ones each of the game's players were treated in after being declared as sole survivors: Zoey survived a plane crash, Mike was the only miner pulled alive after a cave-in, all of Ben's friends were killed after he drove drunk, and only Jason was found by the ...
The film opens with a panicked man (who we later find out is Ben (Logan Miller)) falling through a ceiling grate into an old-fashioned study. Ben finds a door with a puzzle on the wall that requires him to slide four numbers into position to open.
Cole finds Alexei and beats him to death out of anger for killing his friends. It is revealed the entire experience was an elaborate prank organized by his friends to celebrate his tenth anniversary, with every aspect of the escape room being carefully planned to shock Cole.
Zoey makes it out unscathed, but at the end of the puzzle, she encounters someone surprising: Amanda (Deborah Ann Woll), the war veteran who appeared to fall to her death in the first film. As Amanda points out, we never actually saw her die.
Deborah Ann Woll stars as Karen Page on the Netflix series Daredevil and reprises the role for The Defenders and The Punisher. On film, she can be seen as Amanda Harper in Escape Room.
It's especially gutwrenching when you hear a despaired Brianna begin to sob how she doesn't want to die, with Rachel calmly urging her to "not give them the satisfaction" of a show and to Face Death with Dignity. As the acid rain begins to fall onto her, you hear Brianna scream in agony as the acid burns her alive.
Logan Miller: I definitely think that Ben has a true love for Zoey in a friendship way but also potentially in a romantic way. We maybe explore that a little bit in the movie, but then it gets to a point where we get thrown into the lion's den pretty rapidly, so there isn't really much space to explore that.
