Batman Beyond. Terry was born in Gotham City to Warren and Mary McGinnis, a research scientist at Wayne-Powers and an astronomer at Astro-Tech, respectively.
They were a young Neo Gotham couple, Warren and Mary McGinnis. Under the facade of a routine physical, Warren McGinnis was injected with a nanotech payload that rewrote his genetic material with Bruce Wayne's. Soon after, the McGinnis' had their first son, Terry.
Warren McGinnis was a research scientist at Wayne-Powers, and the late father of Terry and Matthew McGinnis and ex-husband of Mary McGinnis He was killed by Mr. Fixx, the right-hand man of Derek Powers.
Convinced that there was still a need for a Batman, Bruce hired Terry as his personal assistant and began secretly training the teenager for his new role as Batman. McGinnis and Wayne would continue to develop a working relationship with Wayne tutoring and advising McGinnis as the Batman from his reactivated Batcave.

Waller concludes by reminding Terry that he is Bruce's son, not his clone, and that, despite the circumstances of his existence, he still has free will to live out his own life; Although not his clone she later tells Terry how he is not even close to as smart as Bruce Wayne but he does have his heart.
