Andy Davis (voiced by John Morris in all four films, Charlie Bright in Toy Story 3 and Jack McGraw in Toy Story 4) is the overarching protagonist of the Toy Story franchise and the original owner of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the other toys in the first three films.

Woody is a cowboy ragdoll, based on the main character “Woody Pride” from the 1950s television show “Woody's Roundup.” In Toy Story 4, Woody states he was made in the late 1950s. However, the Toy Story series is still set in the 2000s as of now, making Woody about 50 years old in the Toy Story Universe.
Due to being unable to find a believable spot in the story, Bo Peep only appears at the beginning and end of Toy Story 2. Bo Peep was ultimately written out of Toy Story 3, due to the fact Molly and Andy probably don't want her anymore, and emblematic of the losses the toys have had over time.
In Toy Story 2, Buzz continued to remain good friends with Bo. Before leaving to go rescue Woody from Al McWhiggin, Bo gives Buzz a kiss on the cheek for Woody, which Buzz awkwardly says he wasn't sure it would feel the same giving Woody the kiss.
However, fans were quick to point out that there has never been a love triangle in Toy Story – Bo Peep's love interest has always been Woody, while Buzz's is coupled up with Jesse (Joan Cusack).
