Roy loses his mind and dons a hockey mask to impersonate long-time dead killer Jason Voorhees, going on a revenge killing spree to avenge his son's death (much like Pamela Voorhees in the original film), killing almost all of the Pinehurst residents and staff along with a few other people unrelated to the incident.
Tommy Jarvis wasn't alone in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter as a survivor. Jason was killing everyone here and his last two targets were Trish and her younger brother Tommy. However, both of them lived as Tommy was able to kill Jason before he could hurt him or his sister.

After digging up Jason's corpse, Tommy experiences another flashback of his last encounter with Jason. As he furiously impales Jason's body with a metal fence post, two lightning bolts strike the post; this restores Jason as a revenant with superhuman strength.
When she later awakes, she finds Alice at the shore and attacks her once again. During the struggle, Alice gains the upper hand. Pamela's last look is one of horror as Alice attacks Pamela with her own machete, which decapitates her.
On Friday the 13th Part IV, he gets hacked to death with his machete by a young Tommy Jarvis, and later, he was assumed to be alive again in Part V due to the rise of another Jason before it being revealed to be Roy Burns being a copycat.
Apparently, after Jason's initial death from drowning, his mother found a book that could resurrect him. Thus, when he came back, he had otherworldly, super-powered abilities.
As an adult, he never speaks, though perhaps this is because we've never witnessed interactions with someone he trusts. The reason it's a “maybe” check is because selective mutism can also be a response to trauma, which Jason most certainly experienced after witnessing the death of his mother.
Miller initially wrote Jason as a normal-looking child, but the crew behind the film decided he needed to be deformed. Victor Miller explained Jason was not meant to be a creature from the "Black Lagoon" in his script, and scripted Jason as a mentally disabled young boy; it was Savini who made Jason deformed.
Pamela Voorhees is the overarching antagonist of the Friday the 13th franchise. She was known simply as Mrs. Voorhees, the mother of Jason Voorhees, who drowned to death as a child, which drove her to murder those who she deemed responsible. She was also the archenemy of Alice Hardy.

The character's role in this film was greatly truncated from the original and she only appears in the beginning of the film moments before she is decapitated in front of her son Jason.
It is not until the third sequel in the series, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, that Jason is finally killed off. The villain perishes when he is repeatedly hit in the face with a machete by a crazed young Tommy Wallace, and this death lasts at least one outing.
But Alice turns the tide and kills Mrs Voorhees. The first part of the spell is complete - the ten sacrifices have been made. But because Mrs Voorhees is now dead, she can't complete the second part. Jason never got his soul back.
This all comes to a head in Jason Goes to Hell, which features a rather convoluted “explanation” for why Jason has never died: he can only be killed by a member of his bloodline. Of course, that goes out the window… because he is brought back.

Originally, Joseph Zito planned for Tommy to become the antagonist and "new Jason" in any subsequent Friday the 13th films created after the fourth. The ending of Friday the 13th: A New Beginning leads up to this, although due to the negative reaction to that film, the idea was dropped.
A resident of Crystal Lake with an affinity for masks, Tommy lived with his mother (until she was killed by Jason) and sister. Since he was the first person to truly defeat him, Jason developed a hatred for Tommy.
