When it came time for Idris Elba's latest film, Beast, to cast the roles of his daughters, the film chose actresses Iyana Halley and Leaf Sava Jeffires, two people unrelated to Elba. Elba's real-life daughter, Isan Elba, also auditioned for one of the parts, but the team ultimately went in another direction.
Beast is a 2022 survival action horror-thriller film directed by Baltasar Kormákur from a screenplay by Ryan Engle, based on a story by Jaime Primak Sullivan. The film stars Idris Elba, Iyana Halley, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Sharlto Copley.
Though Beast was likely inspired by the story of the Tsavo Man-Eaters, it is not based on the real-life events. There are many differences between the stories, such as Beast's village setting rather than a construction site and the focus on Idris Elba's character and family.

The film was shot on location in South Africa, but no actual lions were used during filming. The production had a lion on set in reference photos. "My son shot that," Kormákur laughs. "I put him in a cage next to a real lion." The titular beast in the film was created in post by Oscar-winning effects studio Framestore.
Nate's kids run to the poacher's car, while Martin stays behind in the car, distracting the lion. The lion, Martin and their car slam down a cliff, and in his final moments, Martin uses a gas leak to light the car on fire, singeing the lion in the process.
Though peopled with characters behaving irrationally, this Baltasar Kormákur directorial is enjoyable in an economic, bare-bones way. Beast is filled with appreciation for South Africa and plenty of fun action scenes, but its script stops it from reaching its true potential.
Though the Beast's official age is not mentioned in the movie, it is strongly indicated by the narrator's statement that the rose "would bloom until his 21st year." As the rose has already begun to wilt by the time Belle arrives at the castle, it is very likely that the Beast is 20 years (i.e. on their 21st year) of ...
Why did it beast fail? Poor screenplay. Neither it was serious nor comedy. The terrorist were like a bunch of jokers and the hostages never had a fear in the entire saga.
Beast was marred by several challenges. The film struggled majorly at the box office after opening day, due to the negative talk and the release of KGF Chapter 2 a day after its release.
Garnering Rs. 8 crore for his earlier work on Thalapathy Vijay's 'Beast,' his directorial prowess commanded a higher sum of Rs. 10 crore for 'Jailer,' given the success of 'Beast.
Personal life. Elba has been married three times: first to Hanne "Kim" Nørgaard (from 1999 to 2003) and then to Sonya Nicole Hamlin (for four months in 2006). He has a daughter with Nørgaard and a son with former girlfriend Naiyana Garth. Elba began a relationship with Canadian model Sabrina Dhowre in early 2017.
