There isn't a defined main antagonist. Dean Hardscrabble was intimidating, but she is actually a really nice monster. The only truly villainous character in the movie is Johnny Worthington, and the worst he gets up to is a rather cruel prank on our heroes.

Randall Boggs is one of the main antagonists (alongside Henry J. Waternoose) of Disney•Pixar's 2001 animated film Monsters, Inc. and the tertiary antagonist of the 2013 prequel.
a surprise, which turns out to be Boo's door reassembled. The door becomes functional when Sulley places the piece he has kept, and he opens it to see Boo, who (although off-screen) recognizes him by saying, "Kitty!" This gives Sulley a surprised grin on his face as the film closes.
So, in the final round, he tampers with the scare simulator settings, putting it on easy, so that Mike can register a perfect score and make Oozma Kappa win the tournament, but when Mike realizes this, he is heartbroken and furious, accusing Sulley of being just like Hardscrabble.
First Plot Point: During the end-of-semester exam, Mike and Sully begin trying to outdo each other's scary faces and accidentally destroy Hardscrabble's prized scream canister. She kicks them both out of the Scare program.
Hardscrabble deactivates the door to keep the other monsters safe. The two collaborate to scare the rangers, creating enough energy to power the door from their side, and they escape just as it explodes.
During the last part of the scare Olympics, Sulley roared so loudly that Randall was knocked to the ground, causing him to botch his routine. As a result, Randall was expelled from Roar Omega Roar and developed a hatred for Sulley, noting that it would be the last time he lost to him.
Another reason why Randall chose Boo is because he did NOT, contrary to what some people believe, design the machine to kill or permanently harm human kids. What would be the point in doing that, knowing that human kids, disgusting or not, are still vital to Monster World economy?
Though Mr. Waternoose genuinely liked Sulley and Mike because of their successful teamwork, he was only driven to villainy out of desperation to keep Monsters, Inc. afloat in the midst of the energy crisis, as well as due to stressful financial problems and his responsibilities as CEO.
When she first appears, Boo is very attached to Sulley (calling him "Kitty"), but he is not so keen. Sulley and Mike try hard to keep the child out of sight from other monsters.
