Moff Gideon (/ˈmɒf ˈɡɪdiən/) is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise who first appeared in the Disney+ television series The Mandalorian, where he is the main antagonist of its first three seasons.
The Mandalorians have successfully retaken control of their home world, Mandalore, re-establishing a key powerhouse in the galaxy. The defeat of Moff Gideon paves the way for a new villain to arise, which could lead to a clash between the series and Ahsoka's villain, Thrawn.
Because Moff Gideon's armor is forged from beskar, it's resistant to both blaster fire and lightsaber blades. This makes him far harder to kill, since he now has the same level of protection as his enemies. Additionally, like most Mandalorian armor, Gideon's armor features a jetpack.

Is Moff Gideon a Sith Lord?
At the time of The Mandalorian story, it is pretty clear that Moff Gideon is not a Sith Lord even though he has the Darksaber in his possession nor does he have any links to the Jedi. Moff Gideon is nothing more than one of the Empire's existing bad guys who officially worked for the Imperial Security Bureau.
While seemingly killed in Return of the Jedi after falling into a sarlacc, he has since appeared in Star Wars media set after the film, confirming his survival within the new canon, portrayed by Temuera Morrison.
