Everdeen is one of the most hated characters in the series. She's an emotionally distant parent, who actually abandoned her daughters when her husband died in a mining accident. Since she left all the responsibility of taking care of Prim to Katniss, she failed as a mother.
Katniss is the girl on fire. She is one of the best characters for young girls everywhere, proving that she can fight and be just as tough as anyone else. In a very short amount of time, Katniss's life changes forever as she becomes a tribute in the games and then an icon for rebellion within each district.
As the lead character in The Hunger Games, it isn't a surprise that Katniss is the strongest character in the franchise. Katniss's expertise with the bow is outstanding, and she manages to successfully defend herself with this weapon throughout the whole series.

Mags, an eighty-year-old woman, volunteered for the 75th Hunger Games in the place of Annie Cresta, becoming a tribute alongside Finnick Odair, whom she mentored in the 65th Hunger Games and (according to the book and film) practically raised.
She stumbles into the snow at first, but then she dusts herself off, rises, and begins waving to the photographers, arm in arm with Peeta. The camera zooms out to a neutral angle, giving audiences a sudden, somewhat startling reminder that oh, that's right—Katniss is slightly taller than Peeta.

Before the Capitol battle, Gale had explained to Katniss his series of bombs designed to feed off human compassion: a small bomb would go off, and then when medical aid rushed in, a second bomb would go off, killing those people as well. Incidentally, it's this exact type of bomb that took Prim's life.
With the last killing occuring before an hour had even passed, these games shocked the Capitol audience and are the quickest in the history of the games.
The 15th Hunger Games were won by 18 year old Garnett Dayheart from District 2. This year's games were not very liked amongst the Capitol as they only lasted 2 days due to the limited coverage from foliage and the violent and barbaric nature of some tributes.
The 72nd Hunger Games was known for being one of the best known Hunger Games in the history of Panem. It was also the first Games where Seneca Crane was Head Gamemaker. Art Solace was crowned as the victor of the 72nd Hunger Games. Art scored a 8 in his Training session.
