After great numbers die on both sides (including several other kings and most of the Knights of the Round Table remaining after the Grail Quest), Arthur kills Mordred in a duel, but is himself mortally wounded.
When Mordred's love interest Kara was captured and executed by Arthur, Mordred decided to turn against Camelot and ally himself with Morgana, revealing Merlin's true identity to her. Mordred succeeded in mortally wounding Arthur during the Battle of Camlann, but was ultimately killed by him in the process.
In the Historia and certain other texts, such as the Alliterative Morte Arthure reimagination of the Historia where Mordred is portrayed sympathetically, Mordred marries Guinevere (usually his aunt) consensually after he takes over the throne.
Mordred's family is a particularly important part of his story. According to most versions of the legend, Mordred is the son of King Arthur and Morgause, who are half-siblings. This means that in addition to being King Arthur's son, Mordred is also King Arthur's nephew.

Mordred as a young boy keeps calling Merlin "Emrys", which is actually Merlin's name as a Celtic druid and sorcerer. In Welsh, Merlin's full real name is actually Myrddin Wynn Emrys. Myrddin is his first name, Wynn is his family name and Emrys is his druid name.
What happened to Guinevere after King Arthur died?
While Guinevere was locked in the Tower of London, King Arthur fought Mordred to regain his throne. Both King Arthur and Mordred died in their battle with each other. After King Arthur died, Guinevere joined a nunnery and stayed there until her death. She was buried next to King Arthur.

She was a beautiful and noble queen, but her life took a tragic turn when she fell in love with Lancelot, one of Arthur's bravest and most loyal knights. The relationship between the queen and Lancelot eventually destroyed the special fellowship of the Knights of the Round Table.

Morgana catches up with Merlin and Arthur and drives their horses away, but she is killed by Merlin wielding Excalibur. Without horses, Merlin cannot get Arthur to the Isle in time, and Arthur dies in Merlin's arms, after thanking his friend for everything he has done.
Unbeknownst to him, Lenore had kept the sword hidden from him but told him that it had been destroyed. After the sword was removed from his body, Merlin lost his magic, though he tried to keep that hidden from others in order to keep up the appearance that he is still very powerful.
Mordred, in order to repay his debt, then stabs Morgana which allows Arthur and Merlin to escape with their lives. He is then taken back to Camelot and is knighted. He later visits Merlin and takes back his threat from many years ago stating that Arthur is good and that Merlin can trust him.
In series 4, Uther is wounded during an assassination attempt on Arthur. Merlin tries to heal him but due to Morgana's meddling, the spell instead kills him. In the television series Camelot, Uther is poisoned by his daughter Morgana in the first episode.
When Launcelot hears of the death of Arthur and Gawain, he comes to England in haste. He looks for the queen and finds her in a nunnery. For love of Guinevere as much as for remorse he takes on the habit of a priest. Guided by visions, he goes to Almesbury, where he finds Guinevere dead.
In the Perceval en prose (also known as the Didot Perceval and also attributed to Robert), where Merlin is the initiator of the Grail Quest and cannot die until the end of days, he eventually retires after Arthur's downfall by turning himself into a bird and entering the mysterious esplumoir, never to be seen again.
Merlin later makes some tellings of the future, and is allowed back into the forest. Before he leaves, however, he goes to talk to his wife. His wife's name was Gwendoloena, and she lived together with Merlin's sister.
Instead of telling her about his powers in order to comfort her about her own, he tried to help without showing he actually understood her fear. As a result, it is Morgous instead of Merlin who teaches Morgana about magic and its purpose, so Morgan's learns to use her power for evil instead of for good.
During one of their lessons, Arthur is transformed into a sparrow and attacked by a hawk and accidentally meets Madam Mim, a witch representing the Merlin's nemesis: her trickery opposes Mer- lin's scientific skills. To save Arthur, Merlin intervenes by challenging Madam Mim.
Arthur was unaware of Merlin's powers until the very last episode of season 5 ("The Diamond of the Day: Part 2). In one of Merlin and Arthur's best moments, both men share a beautiful but bittersweet conversation as Arthur's discovered everything Merlin had done and sacrificed for him.
